It wasn't until my fourth year of middle school until that I realized how lonely I was. I wasn't the type of person to put myself out there and make a ton of friends.

Don't get me wrong, I had friends. I had a bunch..actually...

But things happen. People drift, say things, do things and suddenly I'm down to two friends who I love dearly. I just..sometimes, I feel empty. Having two amazing and wonderful friends are all I need, right? Right.

But I want someone who's more than just a friend, if you catch my drift..

*CLAP*

"Huh?!" I say startled.

"You're doing it again." My friend, Penny says.

"Doing what?" I ask.

"You know when you stare off into space and have an existential crisis in your head." Penny's twin sister, Valarie, explains.

"Oh right, that." I close my locker.

"Is it because of him?" Penny asks.

Him. She could only be referring to the guy I've had a crush on for 4 years. Keyword: Had.

"No, of course not. Actually! I think I've officially gotten over him!" I say with confidence in my voice.

My friends smile, I can tell they're a little unsure but still try to support me.

*RING RING*

"Well let us not be late for class." Valarie says as she motions for us to start walking to our last period class down the hall.

"See you guys later. Wanna see a movie this weekend? I can drive you all if you want?" I say as we walk to the parking lot.

I just recently got my drivers license. My friends always walk me to my car before they get picked up by their parents. I appreciate it because the parking lot is on the other side of campus.

"Well you know we never turn down a movie, popcorn and a ride there of course." Penny says giving me a 'you knew the answer before you asked' look.

I smile, we wave farewell and I drive home listening to whatever was on my playlist.

Dinner at my house is always very underwhelming. My family doesn't eat together. My mom is too busy to cook and so ever since I could remember I would just grab whatever was in the fridge and cook it for myself. I enjoy cooking.

My sister always nagged me to make her something and so I did like usual and when the food was done I set it on the counter for her and I walked away with my plate and I ate in the office.

I study and watch a tv show on the computer while I eat. I guess you could say I like to multitask.

*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*

I tell whoever it is to come in as my eyes don't leave my book.

"It's summer, yet you still manage to study." My mom says smiling.

"Of course. These languages aren't going to learn themselves now are they?" I say with sarcasm hanging off my voice. My mom's face grew serious and she pulled up a chair.

"We need to talk." Her face was serious too and I had a feeling that whatever she would say next would affect my life in someway like it usually does.
