It wasn't a dream.
All that happened was reality.

I realised that there was something wrong with the room.
Everything was going fine until we came here.

"Fred?" I called out for him.
But there was no response.
He was supposed to bring an ice pack for me.
Nevermind.
I got up and walked towards the refrigerator when I heard a voice.

It was that of a child, a really young child.
It seemed as if he was singing a song.
The voice was very faint and I couldn't find its source.
I checked the bedroom and the hall, but there was nothing.

Just when I realised that the voice was coming from the bathroom.

I walked towards the bathroom, my heart pounding in my chest.

I reached for the door knob, thinking whether or not to open it.
Without wasting much time, I opened the door.

There was no one.
But there were footprints all over the bathroom.
It seemed as if someone walked with his or her muddy feet.

The strange thing was that those foot imprints were everywhere.
On the floor, the walls, the basin.

I could make that out that they were of a child, probably whose voice I could hear.

I tried to follow the footsteps.
They ended in front of the mirror.
I looked up at my reflection.

There was blood dripping all over my face, in the mirror.
I vigorously rubbed my hands over my face but there was nothing.

I thought I was hallucinating.
I just brushed my thoughts away and walked towards the bedroom.

As soon as I entered the bedroom, I stood in shock.
For there was a child sitting on my bed.
It was a boy who must be eight or nine years old.

"Excuse me?" I said.

He didn't turn back.

"Hello?"

He finally turned back.
What I saw next would probably haunt me for years.
He didn't have his eyes.
There were just two empty black sockets in his face.
There was blood dripping from those empty black holes.
