Maddie pov:
I was upstairs when I heard the doorbell ring, I quickly ran down the stairs and opened the door
"Hi Shawn" I say opening the door
god that felt weird...
He smiled at me saying his name "Hi Maddie."
"I'm going to get my book, I'll be right back down." I tell him and he shuts the door behind him.
I quickly go upstairs to my room, and take a deep breath.
I grab my book and go back downstairs, Shawn is on the couch looking down at his phone, I sit next to him and open my book.
I hate to say but does look kinda cute
Stop it Maddie, you're 17 he's your teacher.
As I mentally fight myself I realize I've been staring at him, I come back to reality once I hear my name
"Maddie? Hello?" He asks

"Sorry, what were you saying?" I say, I could feel the embarrassment through out my body

"I asked why you were staring." He says

"Oh nothing, let's do the lesson." I say and he shrugs it off

We finally finish the lesson and Shawn's on his way out when he gets a call
"It's your mum" He whispers before answering "Hi Tanya."
"Yeah" Shawn says, my mum must be telling a story or something "Shit that's horrible I'm so sorry Tayna. I can totally do that though." He says "Alright, yeah bye." He says and turns to me
"What was that?" I ask

"Your mum, something about a boat crash and she'll be gone for a few days and wanted me to check on you every once in awhile."

Shawn pov:
"You really don't have to Shawn I'm-" Maddie says

"I don't mind, I like coming over here" I say

"And why's that?" Maddie asks with a smile, probably hoping that I say it's her.

"Eva of course." I say

I sit back down there's some space between us, we're joking around for a bit and talking about what Maddie's going to do after she graduates

"Well in my wildest dreams I would probably work for Doctors without borders, but I have a daughter so I guess that's out of the picture." Maddie tells me "If you weren't a teacher what would you be doing?" She asks

I think for a moment "I've always wanted to be a director for films and music videos" I decide not to tell her about my whole music career back home.

I scoot a little closer to her, she looks at my lips and lets her tongue out a little to wet her lips. We both lean in, our lips only inches apart when,

"Mummy, I'm hungry." Eva says coming down the stairs

"Eva you had a snack after school" Maddie said

"Mummy it's called a snack for a reason." Eva snapped back at Maddie

"I have an idea!" Maddie said

"How about you and Eva go get food while I stay here and take a bath?!"

"Sure," I said as Maddie put some shoes on Eva

"Bye mummy!!" Eva said

"Bye Eva, have fun!"

"We will" I said to Maddie

I put Eva's carseat in the backseat of my jeep

"What do you want to eat, Eva?" I asked backing out of the drive way

"A chicken nugget!!"She yelled back, clearly excited "And ice cream too!"

I laughed and continued driving, we went to Chic-fil-a to get Eva her chicken nuggets, then off to the store to get Maddie and I something to eat.

As I'm walking through the store with Eva in my arms I hear my name, well my last name to be specific

"Mr. Mendes?" Some kid asked "Aw is this your daughter?"

"No, no I'm just baby sitting." I say with a small laugh, I tell the student goodbye and go on my way

Ok I guess Eva looks a little like me but she is the spitting image of Maddie, they have the same smile and the same eyes. I was holding Eva's hand through the store when she managed to venture to the toy isle, she was looking at a pink barbie phone and somehow I knew we wouldn't be leaving the store without it.

"Please," Eva said giving me the puppy dog eyes, I couldn't say no

"Your mummy is going to hate me but fine"

"Yay!"Eva cheered

Maddie pov:

I was putting my clothes on when I heard the front door open, I went downstairs and Eva and Shawn were back, and in Eva's hand was a pink Barbie phone... He must've caved in,

"I'm sorry, she gave me the puppy dog eyes and I knew we were not leaving the store without it" He laughed

"Yeah, that's what happens when you take Eva to a store" I said grabbing a few bags out of his hands "Was she good at least?" I asked

"Yeah, she was perfect." Shawn said

"Ok Eva, time for bed." I said picking her up and taking her upstairs

"I like him" She said as I was putting her pyjamas on
"Did you have fun with him?"

"Yeah, I got chicken nuggets and ice cream" she said pulling the cover over her

Great now she isn't going to sleep,

"Night Eva" Shawn said coming in

"Night baby" I said giving a kiss to Eva

I went back downstairs and he was on the couch

"Did you let Eva have ice cream?" I asked

"Whaat? No" He said sarcastically

"Shawn," I laughed "It's fine if you did"

"Oh in that case she got strawberry ice cream with gummy bears" He said laughing

"If she's bouncing off the walls at 2 in the morning then it's your problem" I laughed

"Fair enough" I said laughing
