Twenty seven

Maddie pov:

"Maddison Anderson" A nurse called out into the waiting room

I picked at my nails waiting for the doctor to come in, the different health posters were pasted on the walls. After a few minuets the doctor came in, he introduced himself and put some cold gel on my stomach then put the doppler on my stomach, a little blob appeared on the screen. Soon a loud wooshing noise appeared and I almost started crying

He didn't say anything for a few minuets, I was thinking the worst like something is wrong with the baby or me. Finally he spoke,

"Alright, the baby looks great," He smiled "Would you like to find out the gender?" He asked

"Could I get the gender in an envelope?" I asked and he nodded, he went out of the room for a moment and came back in with a while envelope

"Alright Ms. Anderson here you go, inside is written boy or girl." He said, I thanked him before he left the room

I went back to the reception area and the nurse handed me some of my ultrasound pictures. I walked back out to my car and sat staring at them for a while amazed that the little bean is my baby; sadly I had to get back to school though, I stuffed the pictures into my purse and drove off, there wasn't much traffic so the drive wasn't too long and I made it in time for a bit of 1st hour. I walked up the stairs and to French with Ms. Hill.

It's not like anybody knows I'm pregnant, but with all the stares I got when I walked in, it sure felt like they all knew. I sat down next to Hayes and he questioned why I was late

"Doctors appointment" I simply said, which was true but he didn't need to know the reason

"Are you sick or something?" Hayes asked sounding concerned

"No I'm fine, just a check up" I smiled

"Miss. Anderson, I know you're not coming into my class late and being disruptive." Ms. Hill said raising her eyebrows at me

I turned away from Hayes "Sorry Ms. Hill" I mumbled

After Ms. Hill assigned us a project,
Hayes and I started discussing what we were going to do for our project which was due next week. We had to choose a city in France and act as though we were tour guides to the city and 'guide' the class through the city aka a powerpoint.

"I feel like Paris is too basic and someone probably already choose it." Hayes said and I nodded my head.

I pulled out my phone and together we looked on Google for French cities

"Hmm, how about this one? It looks nice." He said pointing at a city called Bordeaux

"CUTE!" I yelled

"How can a city be cute?" Hayes questioned and I rolled my eyes, I pressed on Bordeaux and looked at the description on google

"I like it. We're doing it." I told him. Hayes raised his hand to get Ms. Hills attention

"Did you two decide on a city?" She asked

"Yep, Bordeaux" I said

"Nice choice, I've been there before. Stunning city." She said after she wrote down Bordeaux by out name

"Classe d'attention" (attention class) Ms. Hill said and suddenly the room went silent

"Your assignment is due next Tuesday. I expect great things from you! Get together and work outside of class as I will not be allowing any more work days in class." She said then the bell rang dismissing us to second hour

I put my bag on my shoulder, Hayes and I walked together downstairs to the History hall, to discuss when to meet up to work on this project.

"Are you free after school, say around 3:30?" He asked

"Yeah I should be, I'll text you otherwise" I smiled

"Perfect see you then." Hayes said

I went into my world history class and for some reason all I could think about was Hayes, his red hair and blue eyes and his freckles on- Maddie are you hearing yourself right now? You have a boyfriend, stop. I managed to make it through the day, and went straight home as soon as the 3:00 bell rang.

"Oh by the way Hayes is coming over so we can do our French project." I said and went upstairs to my room

I took the pictures out of my pocket and put them on my dresser, still in my skirt I laid down on my bed for a minuet before Kelly came in

"Gran and I are going shopping, we'll be back in a bit. Call if you need anything" She said

"Okay, bye" I said with a little smile

After she left I checked the time, 3:15, I have a few minuets to take a little nap, I closed my eyes and before I knew it my phone was ringing.

"Hey um, are you home?" Hayes asked

"Oh my god, yes I'm sorry I fell asleep. I'll be right down" I said

I walked downstairs and opened the door,

"I am so sorry how long have you been waiting" I asked closing the door behind him

"Only a few minuets, don't worry" He said laughing

Hayes pov:

We walked upstairs and turned left to her room, her room was simple, grey and white

"I'm going to go change right quick" She said grabbing some other clothes and going to the bathroom

"Okay" I replied

Curious, I looked around her room. I saw a few family photos on her wall. On her dresser was a flower vase and some jewellery. I spotted a little black and white photo, I recognized it from when my mom was pregnant with my little brother a few years ago. I thought for a second maybe it's her family members picture but at the top I saw,

"Hey I'm b-" She said then realized what I was looking at "Oh no" She mumbled walking over to where I was

"Are you?" I asked

"Pregnant." She finished my sentence "Please please don't tell anyone at school." She begged

"I would never, your secret is safe with me." I said "But just one question"

"What is it?" She asked

"Who's the dude?" I asked and I could feel her mood sift a bit "I'm sorry if that's a sensitive question or something I-"

"No it's fine" She said sitting on the edge of her bed patting the spot next to her

"His name is Shawn, he's a really sweet guy and he's also-" She said before she stopped herself "Um, he's also 24. But there's some more to the story as to how I ended up here but for now that's all you get." She said leaving me curious

"Alright well let's get to this project"
