Chapter 12: Tess' POV

I noticed that Kristen and Ryder were coming back, and Cara notices as well.

"Everything okay Cara?" Kristen asks as she walks up to her.

Cara changes her tone "Everything is swell." She says with smile. "Let's get going, I want to get back before dark."

"Alright, let's go then."

"We'll talk later. See you around Ryder. Tess..." with that they walk off.

'What am I going to do?' I think to myself.

"Anything else you'd like to do Tess?" Ryder asked with a happy tone in his voice.

I looked at him and couldn't help but smile.

"Yeah actually." I could use some distraction while I figure out what to do with Chris and Cara knowing about him.

"What did you have in mind?"

"Can we train and maybe just go for another walk?" I suggest.

"I would love to, but I have to go see if Ms. Reyes needs me for anything else. I'll see you later?"

"Yeah. Definitely Ryder."

"Alright. I'll see you then Tess." He smiled

I couldn't help but smile back. His simple presence bring me a strange familiar comfort.

"I'll come find you." He reassured me.

"Sound good. I'll see you later then Ryder."

I walk off to the infirmary to check on Austin and Nathan.

"Tess!" I stop in my tracks. I turn around and see it's Ryan.

"Hey, Ryan."

"Hi. Do you remember Emily? Have you seen her?"

"Knight? The demoness? Yeah, the day I woke up I was very briefly shown the top students."

"Have you seen her?"

"No, a majority of the students are still on break with their families. I'm still surprised we had enough when the Slayers attacked." I remind him.

"She said she was coming back today."

"I haven't seen her, maybe she'll be back later this evening or next week."

"Maybe, thanks anyways."

He doesn't walk far before I ask him.
"Ryan. Why are you looking for her?"

"Ms. Reyes was wondering if she was back yet. She really wanted to talk to her so she and Cara could work out security."

"Cara left a few minutes ago with Kristen."

"Whenever she gets back can you tell her Ms. Reyes would like to talk to her again."

"Sure." If she'll even talk to me, she can't be that upset to not talk, right?

"Okay. Thanks Tess."

Cara won't be too happy considering what she's told me about Emily Knight. Emily was the person Edwin cheated on me with before forgetting everything, and when Amanda died, she took her sisters place. Cara and Emily were now the top 2 demonesses.

I get to the infirmary. "Ms. Baker?" No response. "Ms. Baker?"

"In the back Tess." She responds.

I head towards the back and see that she was giving some sort of shot to Nathan.

"Is he alright?" I say in a panic tone.

"He's fine Tess. Just giving him a little more antidote."
