Orochimaru quietly assessed the children in front of him from his hiding place up in the trees. As expected of the Last Uchiha, the boy was completely on gaurd, his ebony colored eyes darting with rapid succession around the trees. Orochimaru could see the boy was strong, stronger than his peers at this age and a mature disposition. But the boy was still young, still a hatchling. He could already imagine just how strong and powerful the boy could become if he were to be trained under a mentor.

His smirk widened, licking his lips hungrily at the thought. Oh how much he would like to see the boy blossom into a strong ninja. He couldn't wait to take over that body for his own. Turning his attention back to the battle, he focused again once more.

Another one had caught his attention, specifically the Uchiha's blonde team mate. The boy really did look remarkably like his Father, but given a few years, he would look like a carbon copy of the Yondaime himself. The boy also held the Kyuubi no Youko in his stomach and if the boy managed to control the Kyuubi's massive chakra, he would become the most powerful ninja in the shinobi world.

Orochimaru continued to watch them quietly from the shadows. He didn't care for the other one. She was insignificant and not worth his attention. The one that he needed was the Last Uchiha and if he were lucky, he would also be able to get the Kyuubi Jinchuriki.

As his snake summon had swallowed the Kyuubi Jinchuriki and disappeared through the trees, he had decided that watching was enough. He felt impressed when the Last Uchiha had immediately whipped out a kunai in his hand and shifted into a defensive stance, shielding the pink-haired nuisance from his sight. Orochimaru had wondered if the boy was aware of his presence from the beginning, but that was impossible. The Uchiha was merely a Genin. Well, it didn't matter really, he's a Sannin.

"Impressive."

He left his hiding place, standing in front of the two Genin. He watched as the Uchiha tensed, anger and something sinister rolling of the boy in waves. Now he was confused. What did he do to warrant this kind of reaction? For all he knew, this was the first time he had met the boy.

Orochimaru almost frowned. This wasn't what he had imagined it to be. They were supposed to be fearful, if not, tensed. The girl did react what he envisioned but why not the boy?

"Orochimaru." The Uchiha whispered, almost in glee.

Now don't get him wrong. He almost did not have a mini heart attack. The Uchiha shouldn't know who he really is. He's in disguise and what's more, were his eyes deceiving him or did he see the Uchiha's eyes flash with the fucking Mangekyou Sharingan? If that were the case, then he had a lot of his plans drastically ruined, but that couldn't be, right? Right?

He blinked and when he looked at the boy's eyes again, it was the normal ebony black eyes. Was he only dreaming?

It didn't matter at this point in time, he would worry about that later on, for now, he needed to focus on his current goal. Placing the cursed seal on the Uchiha and ensure that the boy would seek him for power.

~X~

Sasuke needed to calm his rapidly beating heart. He almost made the mistake of showing his Twin Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan to Orochimaru but thankfully, the Sannin had thought he was only seeing things. It wouldn't be wise to already show his trump card. Right now, he couldn't afford to do any drastic measures, he needed to be subtle. His best bet at the moment was to hold off Orochimaru as best as he could without using the Sharingan, wait for Naruto to arrive to have a better chance, while avoiding to get the cursed seal from the Sannin at the same time.

"It's the creepy woman from earlier!" Sakura recalls, looking frightened.

Sasuke almost snorted. That thing wasn't a woman, nor was it even a man. He couldn't consider it even a human. To him, the person standing in front of him was trash and is in need of disposing.
