~~~~~
Walking in a valley of cold,
I felt my heart unfold.
It froze
It shivered
Trying to stay warm.
Beating, never giving up
Then I felt your sunny blaze
Like the sun, you were melting the ice in the far distance.
I ran.
faster and faster,
One foot in front of the other,
I ran.
My freezing heart melted from how fast it was beating.
My spilling blood weaved into a red scarf that traced behind me into the past.
You were looking
And smiling,
All too warmly.
But before I knew,
I was falling.
My scarf choking,
straining,
killing me.
I fell, face in snow
I watched you go.
I wanted to follow
I needed to follow.
But you were gone
Along with your sun
The damage was done
I was alone, there's no one
In this barren land.
In this hopeless place.
Just me, waiting for the end of my days.
So here I was,
Laying in a valley of cold,
Listening to my heart unfold.
It froze
It shivered
Abandoning warmth.
Halting, finally giving up
