Chapter 5

Erik woke up in a hotel bed next to Charles the next morning. He hadn't let go of the other boy all day, not wanting him to slip away. Charles was curled up quietly, still asleep for now. Erik yawned and held onto him, nuzzling back against him. He was more comfortable than he'd been in years. Charles hummed softly as he woke up.

"What're we gonna do today?" Erik asked quietly.

"Don't know..."

"Are we really going back to New York?"

"I have to, eventually... where do you want to go?"

"I don't know..."

"Well... figure it out..."

"You figure it out," Erik nudged him.

Charles smiled softly. "This is your trip."

"My trip was to California. It's your trip back," Erik nudged him again.

"Well, we haven't gone to California. Stop hitting me."

"I'm not hitting you."

"Yeah you are." Charles rolled over and nuzzled him.

Erik grinned at him and nuzzled him as well, "I'm bumping you."

Charles grinned. "Yeah, yeah."

Erik smirked at him and nudged him gently again.

Charles hummed and hid into him. "I'm tired."

"It's morning...," Erik huffed.

"And I'm tired."

Erik pushed him over, "Too bad!!"

Charles groaned. "Stop."

"Get up, old man!"

"No!"

Erik jumped on him, "Pleeeeeaasssee!"

Charles laughed. "Never!"

"We have to go on an adventure!" Erik shook him, "Have to go somewhere neat!"

Charles grinned. "Okay, okay, okay... where are we going today?"

"I don't know...just somewhere!"

"Okay. Breakfast first."

Erik nodded and got up, getting into a new pair of clothes, "So...why'd you kiss me yesterday?"

Charles swallowed silently. He got up to get clothes. "Don't know."

Erik glanced at him as he searched for a shirt, "I don't mind, you know..."

Charles stayed silent. He grabbed clothes and went to the bathroom to change.

"Charles....dammit!" Erik chased after him, "Tell me what's going on!"

Charles locked himself in the bathroom.

"Come on!" Erik knocked on the door, "Charles, tell me!"

"Go away. I'm changing."

Erik pouted and sat by the door. Charles changed and sighed. Erik sat outside the door, waiting for Charles to come out. He wouldn't let him get away. Charles slowly opened the door and looked at him. "Can't you talk to me?"

Charles frowned. "I don't know what to say..."

Erik sighed, "About the kiss."

"Yeah. I don't know what to say about it."

"Why?"

"I don't know."

"You don't know why you kissed me?"
