Zoe's POV

Waking up to your son watching a teenage girl sleep is not exactly how you want to spend your Friday mornings.

"Ivan?" I whisper and he yells then slaps her cheek.

"Ow!" She sits up rubbing it.

"What're you doing?" I ask him.

"Th-there was a fly on her cheek."

"Right...."

Fia just looks lost still rubbing her cheek.

"Sleep well?" Ivan asks her and she glares at him standing up.

She gives me a quick angry hug before stomping off.

"Wow. I can't believe you slapped a girl, I taught you better."

"There was a fly on her cheek! I swear."

"Next time leave it." I chuckle giggles.

I know my son would never hit a girl out of anger or anything else.

"You should go apologize." I say walking back to my room.

Hayden was fast asleep laying on his stomach. I watch as he moves to his side and searches for something on the other side. I smile softly as he opens his eyes and looks around the room in confusion.

Finally catching my eyes he smiles too.

"Why are you up so early?" His voice was deeper and hoarse. I liked it.

"I was thirsty."

"Me too." He mutters covering his eyes with his hands.

"Want me to get you some water?" I offer and he shakes his head.

"Come here." He tells me and I go to him. To my horror he swiftly lifts me and carries me downstairs.

"How did you even do that?"

"Skills."

He was only in his boxers and me in spandex shorts and a tank top.

I blush as Fia, Ivan and Emilio eye us from the kitchen.

"Hey guys! Who wants to go out for breakfast?" They're too busy eyeing us to answer. "I'll take that as a yes!"

"So...Mom.." Emilio speaks up biting into the the pancake. We were all seated and a local diner with the kids seated on the opposite side of us. "There's no chance of you and dad getting back together?"

All of us choke except for me. I just smile sadly.

"He doesn't know?" Hayden asks.

"Know what?"

"You're dad's already getting re-
married."

"What?!" Emilio and Ivan gasps and Fia sighs.

"How could he do this?" Emilio asks incredulously and he stands.

"Emilio-"

"I need some time." He walks off and I choose to give him space.

Hayden grips my hand under the table.

"So...you and Hayden huh?"

"Nope."

"We have six other guest room but he was in yours." Fia wiggles her eyebrows giggling at Ivan and I guess they made up.

"Yea because I..uh."

"Well you see, I'm afraid of the dark." I saif and Ivan gives me this 'yea right' look.

"Okay..." Fia mutters.

"You guys had school today right?" I nearly yell and Hayden chuckles.

"I already called. Plus Fia is homeschooled remember."

"So you homeschool her?" I ask and he all of a sudden looks uncomfortable.

"Nah his ex does. Their still 'best friends' Fia rolls her eyes.

Ex?

"Oh." I murmur. "I have work, so um...Ivan you have the keys, and maybe Fia can spend the day with you guys." I then stand.

"I'll see you around okay Hayden?"

He frowns at the word "around" and stands also.

"Did I do something wrong?" He asks and I shake my head.

"No no, it was all me." I sigh.

I then walk out.

I'm such a fool, it was too soon. Now I've begun catching feelings.

You should learn from your mistakes woman! Men aren't loyal.

Sighing I was about to open my door when someone pulled me by my hand and into a firm hug.

I immediately knew it was Hayden, he had this strong cologne and it smelt pretty good.

"Not all men are the same Zoe. I know its too soon and you're not even married yet, but when the time comes... I hope you give me a chance. I'm not gonna say I'm different, nah, I'll let you figure that one out. All I'm saying is that no matter what I'll always be here for you." He then gives me one last squeeze before kissing my cheek and walking back in.

I only stand there dumbfounded.

At work I could barely function, not only because of the gross, disrespectful PDA that was going on in the corner, but the words that Hayden imprinted into my mind.

It was surprising.

Sighing I decided to go for a little break, just making my rounds around the company.

"So, there's this new bag that just came out. Do you mind getting it for me? I'll pay you back if I have too."

"Oh no baby, of course I'll get it for you. Don't worry."

My heart hitches. I remember when he used to call me that...

He's such a fool.
