Ethan was here to visit Grayson, his pyscho brother. Dirk didn't mind it. Apparently, it was a regular thing for him to come and see Grayson. Why though? He may be his brother, but he's... a criminal. Granted, didn't know him well. Dirk wouldn't let you see Dolan's file. He said he'd like to keep it 'private'.

You sit awkwardly at your desk, across the room from Ethan and Dr. Bettleman, stapling papers together and organizing patient files. Boring, yes. But Dr. Bettleman said he wouldn't make you do that all the time. Only if someone from the outside is present in the office.

A small knock sounds at the door and you stand quickly to open it as the two cease their conversation about Grayson's progress. You turned the knob and swing open the door, seeing Carl with a smiley face and Dolan in-tow.

"Hello Y/n" Carl greets. You smile back and greet him as well, your eyes trailing to Grayson's. They were so similar to his brother's. "Here he is," Carl states the obvious as he gestures for Grayson to enter the office.

He does so in a polite manner, saying "excuse me" to get you to move out of the way. Definitely bi-polar.

"Thank you, Carl" you close the door as he walks away, turning abruptly into Grayson's back as he observes the two people at Dirk's desk. A light laugh leaves Grayson's lips as you stumble from the collision with his hard, broad back.

His head turns back while his eyes fix on you, "be careful, Princess. Wouldn't want you hurting yourself" he drops his left eyelid in a subtle wink, making your skin crawl slightly.

"Grayson, so nice of you to join us" Dirk greets, standing to walk to a shackled Grayson. You walk back over to your desk, sitting in the uncomfortable chair. Your eyes watch carefully as Dirk unlocks the cuffs around Grayson's wrists. Ethan stands up, hugging his twin.

They were so similar, yet so different. Ethan's jawline was sharper. Grayson is taller and more built. Ethan's hair is cut differently. Their freckles on their faces are in different spots. They weren't exactly twins anymore.

"Hey man" you hear Ethan say. Grayson just nods, sitting in the chair furthest from you. It was turned slightly toward Ethan's chair, which was turned slightly toward Grayson's chair. It was like they were all about to talk about their feelings like girls at a slumber party.

Grayson looked at Dirk, then Ethan, then you. His hazel eyes were intimidating.

Your heart started racing in the box of your chest. A subtle smirk falls on his lips as he notices your breathing pattern change. His hand comes up, swooping his hair back and to the side. It has to be hard to keep it that nice and kept in a mental hospital...

Dirk snaps Grayson out of his trance with you. You avert your gaze back to your stack of files as Dirk begins to talk. You didn't want to hear the conversation, but you obviously had no choice.

"Grayson, you have been very cooperative lately and there have been no... altercations" Dirk speaks carefully. Your eyes flick up to concentrate on Grayson as he nods, understanding Dirk's words. "There has been an overlook in your case" he continues. Grayson's head lifts, his eyes widened slightly.

"W-what do you mean?" He frantically looks from Dirk to Ethan, then back again.

"Well," Dr. Bettleman sits forward in his chair, folding his hands, "Judge Matthews has requested another hearing for you, to possibly lift one of your life sentences" he finishes, eyeing Grayson. You were too. All of you had eyes on him, wondering what he'd say. What he'd do. How he'd react.

"Why are they doing this?" It was a solid question. One you had on your mind as well. Of course, lifting one life sentence out of the two wouldn't do him any good.. He'd still be here for seventy more years.

"The people working your case have been kept in the loop about your progression here at NMH and we'd be happy to give you a portion of your life back, Grayson" you could practically hear his heart rate speed up.

You could tell he was nervously processing it. His leg started bouncing up and down from the movement of his foot, his eyes were screwed shut. "Gray?" Ethan asks, placing a calming hand on his brother's shoulder. Grayson's hazel eyes pop back open, immediately focusing on you. You pick up a pen, looking back down at the files, writing down random things on a piece of random paper.

Why does he have to be so... crazy, yet just as equally... insane?

Grayson's POV

She wasn't doing anything. All those files in front of her were just play work. Dr. Bettleman's last assistant barely did anything. Chances are, Y/n won't do anything either.

"Especially if you kill her" he says.

I'm not killing her. She doesn't deserve it. She hasn't done anything to me. Other than make me extremely... heated...

"When is the trial?" I ask Dirk, looking him in the eye. His grey eyes are tired, i can tell. Thirty some years working around nut jobs probably makes you lose your shit too. But, he's a good man. Never did me wrong, or anyone else for that matter. He was devastated when Katrina, his last assistant, left. To this day, Dirk doesn't know the truth of why. And i don't plan to tell him.

"Thursday" he says, obviously not realizing that i have no clue what day it's been for a few months. I pop up my brow, he gets the hint. "Today is Monday" he infers, glancing over at Y/n like i had before. "Y/n" he says aloud, causing my insides to twist.

No one else should be saying her name. Just me.

"Do you think you could come over here and converse with Grayson? I need a few words with Ethan" Dirk stands up, looking back at me. He puts his finger up, signaling he's just be a minute. But i don't have a minute. I can't be alone with her behind closed doors. No way.

I peek at Y/n as she stands from her desk, taking the place where Dirk previously sat. Her perfume re-entered my nose as it did yesterday when i saw her in the halls. She sits back in it, further from me than i would have liked. Ethan pats my shoulder before exiting the room with Dr. Bettleman. I waste no time.

"I know you don't like me" i blurt.

Her eyes looked shocked, as if i had offended her in the worst way. "I-i never said that" she defends. Her stutter was all i needed to confirm it.

"You didn't have to" i say, glancing at her chest before picking my gaze back up to her beautiful eyes.

"Gouge them out Grayson." God, he sickens me.

I shake my head slightly, ridding it of the awful thoughts. I could never do that. She's too breathtaking to make her heart stop beating... My eyes watch her closely as she scans the desk top, eyeing everything.

She's probably seeing if there's any sharp objects within my reach that i could kill her with. Smart.

Her bottom lip was slightly caved in as she bit the skin. Anxiety signs. As i watch her, her orbs find my body in the room, scanning me as well.

"I have a question..." she says, unsure of what my reaction would be.

I sit up straight in my chair, leaning forward to rest my elbows on my knees. I want to hear every word come out of her beautiful mouth. "Shoot" i tell her.

She takes a deep breath, her chest shaking slightly, "those two people you killed... how did you do it?"

Not what i was expecting.
