Diana Thompson hides behind a capable facade. One that's also strict and a little coarse. In reality, she's frightened, all of it is something she uses to deal with a past so shocking she'd never reveal it to anyone.
She was born in a town called Ri...

5 weeks later- Sunday-
"Breath Levi, just breathes," I said to myself. I hated times like this. Times like this, when I didn't think straight. When I couldn't distinguish reality over imaginary.
Pushing myself off the couch, I struggle to walk to my bedroom. No one and nothing could help me when times like these strikes. Finally making it to my room, I quickly made my way to bed.
My mind starts flowing with the bloody images of me being in Afghanistan. I try so hard to focus on something else, but my brain won't let me. Tears run down my face as I hear.... as I hear the voices of the fallen soldiers.
"Don't think, don't think, don't think." Chanting to myself usually works, but right now in this very moment... it wasn't. Banging my head on the wall, I continue to chant "Don't think" in hopes that a flashback won't happen. But it does.
Flashback
"Sargent green, there are too many bullets coming in at once!" Yelled Elias.
"Hold them back as much as you can private," I said, reloading my gun. "We need to make it back to base."
"We can't make it back to base, there's too many of them," Elias says. "Everyone on our team is dead Sargent, it's just us two."
"We're gonna make it Elias," I responded, firing my weapon. "What's one way we can get out of this?" I questioned, private Elias.
"We can travel underground, I'll give us more time to find a way out before they catch up to us."
"To much risk, we don't know where that passage will lead us. And there could be plenty of Land mine under there." I said, moving my position to the back.
"There's no other way out Sargent," Elias says.
"Okay, well go underground," I say. "On my count, I'll throw a grenade, then we go under." I take in a deep breath before, preparing myself. "One, two, three." I quickly throw the grenade and dash underground. The sound of the grenade exploding rings in my ear, and just for a second, the sound of gunshots stop.
