2 week later-
I was tired as hell, weary with the burden of long-closed eyes; I could of easily pull off being a walking zombie, dead on the inside but subconsciously awake. After being in the hospital for over a day, the police came asking us questions on the incident. They said that they were doing everything in their power to find the people who shot up the bowling alley.
I watch for the sixth time today, the phone call to Diana goes straight to voicemail. She hasn't called or texted me back since she left the hospital. This has been happening for the past few weeks and I honestly don't know what's going on with her. The police have been calling her non-stop too, but she hasn't answered any of their calls.
"Why do you look like that?" Amanda asked, sitting up on the hospital bed.
"Look like what?"
"Sad and tired."
I sighed. "Diana still hasn't called me back."
Amanda frowns. "Don't you think you should go see her?"
"I can't, I'm busy watching you," I said, walking towards her bed.
"I'm perfectly okay with watching myself."
"I know you are. I'm just worried that if I leave, those men who shot up the bowling alley will come back for you." I confessed.
Amanda's frown deepens. Those men who shot up the bowling alley aren't coming back." She says. "I don't think they'll risk it."
"And what if they do risk it."
Amanda stays silent not knowing how to answer the question. "I don't know." She finally says. "But don't put your life on pause because of me."
