Matt took me home that night and my mom and dad wanted to take me to the hospital, but I insisted that it was just a bruse and I would be better by morning. Now, I know that was not true. Because it's morning, Matt and I are the only ones home, and my ankle is killing me. So much for feeling better.

I sat, twirling a strand of loose thred from my quilt between my fingers, when Matt poked his head through the door, his brown hair falling over his blueish-greenish eyes.

"Connie? How ya feel?" He asked, his voice low. I didn't understand why. I mean, we're the only ones here.

"Like crap." I chuckled. He smiled.

"Do you feel well enough to have a visitor?" A visitor? Who could that be?

I sat up. "Sure." I said. Then, I wished I had said no. Nicole stepped into my room and my smile faded into a glare.

"Hey, Connie." She, almost, whispered, her voice calm. "How do you feel? Is your ankle okay?"

"What do you want?" I snapped. She frowned and looked down at her pink flip flops that matched the pink shirt and black shorts she wore. While I was in my football pajamas, I felt like she was over dressed.

"I want to appologize." She looked back up.

"And I don't want to hear it." I folded my arms over my chest.

"I know. . . But, will you, please, let me explain?" She begged. I thought for a moment. Do I really want to know why my ex-best friend felt the need to kiss my big brother? No. . .

"Fine. You have five minutes." I told her. She sighed and sat on the foot of my bed.

"So," She began. "Practice was finished and I didn't have a ride. My mom and dad were out. So, I called Matt to see if he would drive me home. He came to pick me up and we started talking. He was really nice about everything and asked me questions. He was so sweet. . ."

"Two more minutes." I warned.

"What happened to the other three?" She demanded.

"You lost them when you said my brother was sweet." I tried to hide my giggle and she rolled her eyes.

"Anyway, so he came inside my house and he hung out. Then, it all happened fast. He leaned in and kissed me. Ever sence then, we've had an intrest in each other." She frowned. "I wanted to tell you, but I never found the right way to say it. I didn't want to say 'hey, I'm dating your brother' because that would sound weird. But that was exactly what was going on. Please, I didn't mean to let it go this far."

"When did he pick you up?" I asked.

"The same day you had your first practice." She fiddled with her thumbs. That's something she always does when she's nervous. It reminded me of all the times we would hang out and flirt with the boys at the ice cream shop. I would tell them how we just broke up with our boyfriends and she went along with it, playing with her thumbs under the counter. I chuckled at that and realized how long we were friends. All the break ups. Girl night outs. Movie nights. All that will be gone. I frowned.

"Please forgive me." She begged, tears filling her eyes. My own tears started falling out of my eyes and I smiled.

"Oh, Nicole! I'm not mad at you or Matt anymore!" I exclaimed, pulling her into a big hug. We sat there, crying on each other's shoulders, until Matt walked in the room and we pulled away to face him.

"Yay!" Matt clapped his hands. "Group hug!" We all rapped our arms around eachother and laughed. Matt leaned in and kissed the top of Nicole's head and she blushed when she saw me looking.

"No kissing around me, though." I wiggled my finger.

"Fine." Matt rolled his eyes. We all laughed and I found this is just way things are supost to be.
