INTERVIEWEE VIOLET HOLLEY

(Smiles and takes Sally's hand, lightly shaking it)

Hello! I've been very excited to meet you, too. Please, just call me Violet.

(Sits down in chair across from Sally)

SALLY JENKENS

So, Violet, I have questions about your rather interesting life. Do you mind if we just get started?

(shuffles and rearranges papers in hands)

VIOLET HOLLEY

(Laughs and shakes head)

I wouldn't say my life has been extraordinary. I've gotten lucky. Go right ahead with the questions!

SALLY

(looks down at first question)

What's your full name and where are you from?

VIOLET

My name is Violet Rosaline Holley, but my maiden name is Winter. I'm originally from Paris. French is actually my first language! I do tend to think in French.

SALLY

Ah! France! What made you leave, how did you end up in the states, and do you like it better here?

VIOLET

Well, my sister, brother and I were orphans because of World War Two. Our biological parents left us at Orphelinat de Cookeville, and when we were nine, our parents adopted us! They lived in England, so that's where we lived and learned English. At ten, my father got a job offer in Chicago, and thus we moved to the United States.

(laughs)

I would say that I do like it better here, seeing as I don't remember a lot of my childhood. With the war was going on, so it was pretty scary. My siblings and I were relieved when we heard that we were moving to America.

SALLY

I'm sorry to hear that, but at least things worked out in the long run. You have siblings? What are their names and how old are they?

VIOLET

Thank you, it means a lot to hear that. I do have two siblings, we're triplets. My sister is Juliet and we're identical, and our brother is Vincent. We share the same birthday, so they're twenty-one as well.
