I woke up. The last day had been pretty quiet, except for the incident with that winning guy. I thought it could be someone from my school, but I checked the class pictures for someone looking like that. It wouldn't be easy to miss him. He might be a visitor, but how would he know my name?
What if he's David's accomplice? the voice wasn't leaving me alone. I really was slowly going insane. I went on the internet again, and it instantly switched to Cleverbot. How does he do this?
'Well, any clue who beat you?' How did he---Oh, yeah. Stalker.
'No, and I'm not really wondering, either.' I lied.
"I know you are wondering, Alice. I know who it was.' So it could be his accomplice? I don't know.....
'Who?' I responded instantly.
'My, aren't you curious? You should be preparing yourself, Alice.........'
'LEAVE ME ALONE ABOUT THAT, ALRIGHT? YOU KEEP TELLING ME TO PREPARE!' I typed on Caps. Caps makes everything look louder.
'Don't shout. And, you should prepare. You won't die. Something inside you might die, though......'
What? What is this shit?
'Which part?'
'Your sanity, Alice. You are slowly going mad, and you know it. All you need is a little push, a tiny little trigger, and you might go the whole way.......' What could happen? He'll probably just kill someone random, or attempt to kill me, or something. I don't know. I was about to ask what it meant, but the website shut down.
My door opened. "Alice? Did you decide which dress you're wearing to the dance?" She asked excitedly. Only two more days.
"The red one. The white one's too revealing."
She brightened up even more. "Great! I have the right mask for it, too!" Oh yeah. Masks. At least I won't be all too recognizable.
"Great, mom. Thanks." I said, my voice empty.
She looked worried. "What's wrong, Alice? Any troubles? Lovesick?"
NO! Mom, I'm not in love with Patrick!"
She sighed, sounding.......disappointed. "Oh. Well, I think he's so polite. He'd make a great son-in-law!"
"MOM!" I shouted, exasperated. Will she leave the subject alone? I won't date him! I won't........ugh, marry him. She left the room. I just sighed, and lied down on my bed.
After about ten minutes of lying there, thinking about random stuff, I decided to get breakfast. I toasted a piece of bread, and spread some butter on it. That's what I was eating when I was sitting in the living room, watching the News. Hey, what can I say? I wasn't paying much attention.
I started to when I heard something, though. "The Litwick case is still being researched by the police." Michael. The little boy. The frame switched to a woman, whose eyes were puffy and red.
Like your mom's that day.
Shut it. It said that she was 'Theodora Litwick, Victim's Mother.'
"I really don't know what Michael did to end up like this! He was supposed to come back from his friend's house, but he didn't! When the police discovered him, with that......that dreadful smile! I nearly fainted!" She sounded so sad. This is what David did.
I swear, one day I will get rid of him. I could die trying, but.........I'll die trying. Trying to stop him. I didn't want to watch anymore. I shut the T.V. off abruptly and ran into my room. I threw myself on my bed, shouting into my pillow. I can't stand him. I hate him. I wanted to get rid of him but..............Sophie..........she seems happy with him.
Alice, she's grown onto you, hasn't she?
I didn't want to admit it, but it was true. I cared about Cathy, too. Sophie might have killed her father, but it was in self-defense.
I screamed into my pillow again, but stopped when I heard that dark voice. "Is something wrong, little Alice?"
