Chapter 2 - The group and my story

I woke up to the truck moving I opened my eyes to see Doc looking at me

" what's up I asked sitting up I turned and opened the back window of the truck 

" morning Rave I called into the truck earning a small nod from Raven who was wearing a hat and long sleeve leather jacket

She turned around and chucked me two cans of tomato soup and a bottle of water

" breakfast boys she called out I was looking around at all her shit man I noticed some cool ass weapons including a sniper rifle that caught my eye it was sorta like mine

I handed Doc his can of soup which he thanked me and quickly opened it and gulped it down

After a few moments of drinking my soup I finished it and threw the can in a box that Raven told me to

Warren had us stop cause Murphy wouldn't shut up so everyone was stretching their legs 

Raven grabbed a pair of bolt cutters and started cutting the cans into little bits and welded it together she grabbed a sling shot and shot a spike ball through a Z's head

" damn kids she's got you beat dock said patting my shoulder

" hey tweety bird I'm hungry Murphy yelled angrily at Raven

" well to bad we're rationing food and water she snapped putting her now empty box back into the truck

" why we have plenty he whined

" because it'll last longer you prick your lucky I'm sharing with your ass cause I honestly don't care about the cure I have no one left she said full of anger and sadness

everyone was standing around the truck talking 10k walked up and sat next to me while I polished off my dad's gun

" what's your story Warren suddenly yelled up at me

" a long one I said turning my attention to my rifle

" we'll we have time Doc said with Mack and Abby agreeing

" fine you wanna know here I spat

" My dad was a former Coast guard / Marine he was dealing with those things when we thought they were people

he got scratched before he came home at that time no one knew a scratch was as good as a bite or anything really about the virus

He got sick fast my mom was pregnant with my baby brother Noah a few weeks to go and she was due she had taken work off to take care of dad she was a cop

Dad kept pushing trying to get us somewhere safe but he he was dying before he passed he gave me his stuff and then turned into one of those things we didn't know he was infected he bit my moms arm so I shot my dad I gave him mercy

I ran and got mom to safety I told her to take a nap I told her she was pregnant that she needed it

She begged me not to let her turn into one of those things I told her she was fine she wasn't gonna change

When she fell asleep I walked outside and loaded one of my birthday guns I walked back in and quietly walked over to her sleep

I whispered " I give you Mercy I set you free and pulled the trigger

I quickly did a C section on her to try and save Noah but the virus had already gotten to him he was one of them so I stabbed him and gave him mercy

I lost my family a few hours into the break out happy now I said letting a tear roll down my cheek

To my surprise everyone looked sorry I felt a soft finger brush my cheek and brushed the tear away I looked up to see 10k looking down at me yes down he was 6 ft and I was 5" 4"

" damn kid you had to give mercy to your whole family yourself Doc said in shock

" I had to give my Dad mercy to I also have his rifle  10k whispered

" I'm sorry for asking Warren said before saying it was time to roll out

I was suddenly tackled by a figure that turned out to be a Z that came from under one of the abandoned cars

It caught me off guard so I had to place my arm under it's chin to keep it from bitting my face off

" fuck you I growled before placing my gun to it's head pulling the trigger blowing its brains out

Suddenly it's limp body was knocked off by a bat thank god for Abby

" you OK she asked as the others rounded the corner

" ya I'm fine thanks by the way I said taking the rag Mack offered me to clean up with

Soon we were on the road again this time Doc , Warren , and Murphy rode in their car

Mack , and Abby rode in the bed of the truck while 10k rode in shotgun

" you know I never got to properly thank you for saving my life back there 10k said softly

" it's no problem really she said softly she was shy but feisty the way she handles Murphy is hot

I know it's crazy I've only know her for a day but she's amazing

" next time we stop at a house or camp out I'd like to take you to a fire and eat a meal with you and get to know you I said full of hope

" what like a date she asked with a slight smile

" maybe I stuttered before I was called to switch places with Abby

" talk to you later Rave I said before changing spots with Abby

Abby crawled into the truck through the sun roof the same way 10k got out

" you know 10k likes you he talks to you more then he talks to Doc Abby said in a girly tone

" only cause I saved his ass I said while following behind Warrens truck

" O really he gave you a nick name does Rave ring a bell Abby half Squealed

" whatever I huffed out

" o my God you so like him back she squealed so loud my ears rang

" I'm pretty sure every Z in the world heard that I said rubbing my ear

" hey wanna drive Moose I said yawning

" sure , you know Mack's a better driver take  one of your pillows and sleeping bags and sleep under the stars in the bed she suggested

I grabbed a radio Warren gave us and pressed the button

" Warren , do you copy I asked

" loud and clear Raven what's up
She replied

" I'm pulling over Mack's gonna take the wheel while I catch a few hours of sleep in the bed if my truck I replied back

" roger that Doc's gonna drive while I do the same she said before I pulled over

I grabbed my Desert Eagle's , my dad's rifle , and his K-bar before grabbing my pillow and sleeping bag

I parked the truck and climbed through the sun roof

" Mack your driving I'm gonna sleep a few hours your gonna follow Doc k I said as he helped me down off the roof and into the bed of my truck

" night 10k I whispered before letting my eye lids rest

" night Raven sweet dreams 10k whispered while he took first watch
