Chapter 4 - There's no rest for the wicked

We followed behind Raven to her truck I wonder if citizen Z and Raven are a thing they seem like they've talked alot and that he really cares about her

I got in the back of Raven's truck as she hopped in the driver's seat and started the engine

I was still hungry I'm not complaining actually the opposite in fact I've eaten more these past 2 days then I have in the past two weeks

My stomach growled somehow Raven must if heard cause I was hit with a can of peaches in juice and a packet of what looked to be some kind of meat cooked and put in s zip lock baggy

" it's rabbit don't worry it's safe she said before looking back at the road

I thanked her and started nibbling on the rabbit meat it tasted so good its been awhile since the group has had fresh meat that wasn't in a tin can

I sat up straight as Murphy rode with me he always got on my nerves so much

" you gonna finish that he asked trying to take the rabbit meat from my hand

I quickly ate it smiling at him while he mumbled under his breath

" it's no fair that she favors you over the Saviors of the human race which caused me to blush there's no way she favors me

I slowly ate most of my peaches before offering the rest to Murphy which he greedily took in a instant

I sat there for hours as Murphy slept after he kept complaining about how the the truck bed was hard

I watched as the moonlight and the truck's gages light lit up Raven's slender face I slowly crawled through the sun roof of her truck and crawled my way to the passenger seat

Suddenly her third radio by the steering wheel started going off

" sniper girl do you copy citizen Z's voice rang

" yes I do what's up Z she said cheerfully

  Nothing much but you kicked a lot of Zombie ass today he said in a cheery voice

" nothing much just checking on my favorite gal since I had a feeling you'd be driving Big Moose through the whole night
He said causing her to laugh

" you know it Z so how's it going there she asked while opening the truck door and grabbing her bat with one hand while driving

" I give you Mercy I set you free she whispered bearly audible as she hit a Z in its temples and closed her door

" hey citizen Z how long have you known Raven I asked while she threw her bat in the backseat

" is that you 10k what are you doing with sniper girl he asked shocked

" she saved me I mumbled

" and how does one simply save the great 10k he asked

" by shooting a Z behind him she said slightly annoyed

" that's my girl he cheered making her smile

( half a hour later )

" you should take a nap you worked hard today killing Z's I said to Raven

" no I'm good she said before chucking me a pillow

I haven't slept very well since I join this group only 3 hours starting day 3 now

Me and Z talked for a while before he crashed out I told 10k to rest after he told me I should I know I probably should listen but I can't trust this group just yet

So I just kept driving through night while daydreaming of a better world while with my family

I woke up the sun was just starting to rise I noticed we weren't moving we must of stopped after I fell asleep

I looked through the window into Raven's truck but she wasn't in there and some of her weapons were missing

" hey Doc have you seen Raven I asked as I jumped down from the truck bed

" no I haven't why Doc asked

" cause she's not in the truck and her rifle is missing along with some of her knives

" maybe she had to piss Murphy mumbled while getting up

" wouldn't she of told one of us and why take her rifle I stated

Everyone's eyes went big with excitement and worry as they gasped behind me my mind instantly went to one of my  worst fears

Raven was a Z

I gulp before I slowly turned around to see a smirking Raven with a gutted pig on her back

" I think you'll like this she said walking past me while laying the down cutting it into bits and starting a fire

" I can already smell the Bacon Doc said

I noticed She looked tired she had purplish , bluish ,  bags under her eyes her once pale white cheeks were now see a slight sickening gray and flushed

I clearly wasn't the only one to notice her health had changed everyone was looking at her watching her every move

" damn bird when's the last time you slept you look horrifying Murphy said snatching a piece of cooked meat out of a bag

" Murphy warren growled

" I hate to agree with Murphy but you don't look to good Rave Abby said I using my nickname for Raven

" when's the last time you slept kid Doc asked as he took over cooking

" 5 days ago she mumbled

" Mack your gonna drive with Abby in the cab of Raven's truck , 10k you and Raven in the back make sure she gets some rest 10k Warren barked out as the pig was finished cooking

" no Raven said yawning only to have everyone including me yell yes

" there's no rest for the wicked she muttered thinking no one heard her
I helped Raven up into the bed of her truck as the others got into their spots

we started driving I got bord and started examining my knife until  Raven sat up and i noticed she was shivering I'm assuming it was cause the wind was nasty today and that she was in summer clothes in spring

I slowly scooted over closer to her I carefully put my arm around her shoulders pulling her in closer as I grab a blanket from her bag and put it on us

Her teeth chattered while she said thank you she shuffled around wrapping her arms around my chest cavity as much as she could before laying her head on my chest causing me to tense up before she started muttering

" for body heat 10k before her soft kitten like snores escaped between her bearly parted lips

" there can be rest for the wicked to Raven sleep well I whispered before watching as the trees started coming into view and we drove away from yet again another small town
