I can't seem to let go
of this stuffed animal.
From the shape of it,
I think it's a bear.
It's so fluffy that it's cute,
and it always
makes me smile.
I waited for the guy
for about two days,
and I'm suddenly
getting impatient.
I was so excited
to see him,
but he didn't show up.
Even now,
disappointment makes
me frown.
The little spark
of hope
in my chest
is slowly dying
as time passes by.
My parents had come
into my room
to explain
what was inside
the envelope.
Apparently, it was filled
with homework.
I let my parents
guide my hands across
the thin piece of paper,
making sure
I wasn't messing up.
I don't mention
the guy
to my parents,
knowing that they'll get mad
about me talking
about a guy
from school.
Education comes first,
next is work,
then it's romance,
and finally
it's family.
They didn't help me
on either
of the questions,
making me anxious
if I got any
of them wrong.
So right now,
the assignments
were in the same envelope,
