"What now?" Anakin thought to himself. She was gone, there was nothing he could do about it. For the first time in a long time, he felt lost. A feeling of emptiness swelled within him, a feeling of loss, despair, and deepest of all... anger. He hadn't felt this way since the death of his mother all those years ago, and he remembered the vividly the atrocity he committed that day. He swore that he'd never do something like that again, but he wanted to. He wanted nothing more than to march back into that cursed temple and make those Jedi hypocrites pay for what they'd done, but that was wrong, and he knew it.

There had been a darkness growing within the young Jedi for some time now, and it was starting to eat him up. He'd worked long and hard to bury it, to stay within the Light Side of the Force, but now, it seemed as though the Light itself was dimming, flickering, fading, on the verge of complete blackout. He needed to find that one bright spot, the one thing that still made him happy in a galaxy that had caused him so much pain... Padmé. He needed to see Padmé.

Padmé was the light that could never be extinguished, the light he so desperately needed.
