*Three Hours later*

I flop down onto my bed in complete exhaustion after putting the last of my stuff away.

Finally!...I'm done!

I let out an exhausted but relieved sigh at that as I close my eyes and relax into my bed. However, as soon as I do that I jump but giggle a little as I feel Daisy start to attack my face with licks.

"You just had to come and attack me with your licks the second I sit down, uh?" I say with a chuckle laced in my voice as I sit up and scratch Daisy behind her ears.

Daisy just pants and wags her tail in happiness as I continue to scratch her behind the ears. I roll my eyes but smile at that.

"She was waiting for the right moment" Mom says as she walks into the door frame of my room with a smile.

I look up and smile at Mom for that as I start to scratch Daisy on her belly after she laid down on my lap and rolled over onto her back.

"How are you liking your new room so far?" Mom asks as she walks over to me before sitting down on the end of my bed.

"I like it. Aunt Nat did a good job with it" I say with a big smile as I look around my room once again.

"Good, she'll be happy to hear that" Mom says with a smile as she starts to pet Daisy's back leg.

Daisy wags her tail in happiness at that thanks to all the attention she's getting from me and Mom right now.

"So I just got a call from my new job asking me if I could come in to finish up some paperwork and take a tour of the office before my first day on Friday" Mom says.

And I don't know why, but as soon as Mom said that my nerves began to rise. Yeah I know, I'm fifthteen years old and should not be scared to be left at home all by myself. But I did just move to a new home and state/city that I'm not familiar with at all, so....

Still though, you have Daisy to protect you and who knows it might be fun to home alone and go out and explore the neighborhood a little.

"Do I have to go with you?" I ask.

"Not if you don't want too. You can stay here with Daisy if you want too and watch movies and order a pizza if you want too while I'm gone. Or you can go out and explore the neighborhood if you want too instead" Mom says with a trusting smile as she rest her hand on my knee and rubs her thumb up and down it.

YES!

"You're actually allowing me to go out and do that, by myself?" I ask a little surprised because sure I was going to try and do that already. Just without Mom knowing, because she can be a little protective and paranoid about me sometimes.

Why?

I don't know. But she's a mom and mom's can be like that at times.

"Why wouldn't I?" Mom asks. "I mean sure I can be an overprotective Mom to you every once in awhile. But you're fifteen now and are very responsible for your age. So I treat you like a teenager and not a little kid anymore. Even though you are growing up way too fast and am making me feel very old."

I couldn't help but laugh at that a little as I smile at Mom.

"You're not that old, Mom. You actually look very young compared to the other parents back home" I say.

"Oh why thank you" Mom says very flattered as she pretends to brush back her hair in a diva type of way before striking a very serious but funny pose.

Both of us break out into laughter at that though.

Seriously, how did I get so lucky to get a Mom like mine?

Mom smiles at me again after we get done laughing, before she gives my knee a little pat.

"So you're okay with going out by yourself? You're not going to get scared being by yourself?" Mom asks with a small smirk on her lips.

I scuff and roll my eyes at that but smile at Mom a little.

"I don't get scared that easily anymore Mom. I'm not a scared little baby, I'm a brave and responsible teenager" I say as I cross my arms over my chest and give Mom a sort of serious look. Even though the part about me being brave is a complete lie.

"Oh yeah?" Mom says a little snarky as she gives me a really? face.

"Yep" I say popping the 'p' with a big smile.

"Then explain what that incident was that happened during Halloween three years ago?" Mom asks as she gets up from my bed and starts to walk toward my door.

I feel my eyes widen at that as I remember what happened and how embarrassing it was. Basically what happened was Mom and I thought it would be a grand idea to go and do a haunted house when I was about 10. Not knowing how scary it was. And let's just say that I screamed so loud I lost my voice and might have also peed my pant.

Gosh darn it Mom, why'd you have to remind me of that?

"I was young, you can't blame me for that" I say.

Mom turned around and smiles at me as she leans against the door frame.

"I know, I was just joking" Mom says with another smile.

Even though I'm kind of mad at Mom for bringing up that embarrassing moment from the past, I couldn't help but smile back at her again.

"But go out" Mom says as she does a little head toward the front door. "Go and have fun exploring our new home while I'm gone. Just bring you phone and Daisy with you when you do and call me if you need anything. Okay?"
