Trigger Warning: Death and Mentions of Slavery
Thomas hummed as he walked in France, smiling to himself until he bumped into a smaller woman and grabbed her instantly as he felt concern for her, "Sorry are you okay?" He asked instantly as he knew she might become a tad frightened.
"Oui-oh you speak English," She looked a bit relieved and smiled kindly, "I'm fine, thank you." She said just as kindly as she'd started out with.
"Good...You're Dutch aren't you?" He asked having found out which country she was from seeing as French obviously wasn't her first language and neither was English as her accent was still there though she seemed to prefer English to French as it was the language she went to, "The Netherlands, right?"
The woman nodded, "I'm surprised, I've no idea where you're from honestly." She said honestly, "But yes I'm from Nederland, my name is Angelica Schuyler." She told him, "A family name." She added.
"Schuyler?" He had been hearing about that family recently, "The wealthy one, right?" The family profited a lot from the slave trade and had grown wealthy recently.
Angelica nodded to show he was right, "The very same. I didn't catch your name, mijnheer." She said.
"I didn't throw it," Thomas replied playfully before introducing himself properly, "My name is Thomas Jefferson." He told her. Thomas was...well, he was an immortal being. He didn't have a separate race from humans nor was he some sort of demigod he just very simply didn't age or die which was why he stayed on the down low so he wasn't found out.
From there Thomas took Angelica out to a cafe where they shared their interests, Thomas was rather surprised by this ever-interesting woman who kept throwing more at him that he didn't know he wanted until he had it, this lasted for a few weeks until Angelica invited him to watch the boats at the dock.
When Thomas arrived he chuckled and approached Angelica, "Come here often?" He teased as he jogged up beside her and she rolled her eyes lightly but he just smirked, "You look very pretty today, did you do something with your hair?"
Angelica nodded, "Tied it up," She said and patted her hair as if to prove her point, "I asked you here to um...tell you something." She admitted.
"Oh?" Thomas asked and then smiled reassuringly so she wouldn't feel as awkward, "Well, go ahead. I'm here for you, Ang." They'd become fast friends and Thomas would be a liar if he said he didn't like her romantically.
"Thomas I think..." She closed her eyes and looked at him with a soft smile, "I think I love y-" She didn't finish her sentence as the brick she was standing on came loose and she fell through, Thomas grabbed her quickly with widened eyes and she yelled something about not dropping her but he couldn't help it...the sweat from running here in fear of being late and the water mist from the ocean caused her to slip from his hands and fall in a scream into the rocks below.
"Angelica!" Thomas cried and got up from the ground that he'd fallen to in order to grab her. He ran to the stairs that led down to her which he quickly ran down and dropped by her, "Oh my God no." He reached to touch her but he stopped himself, she was gone, her breathing had stopped, she was going cold, "I'm so sorry Angie." He whispered and then ran away as he couldn't get caught up in controversy least he be put down in documents which could incriminate him as an immortal.
Thomas forced himself to try and forget Angelica but after that much time he had weirdly fallen in love with her so he couldn't, his only solution was to hop the pond and live in America. He hadn't meant to but accidentally he managed to get caught up in the political mess that is America and he was depressed, to say the least when he was sent to France, he was more than happy when he was brought back.
Thomas was heading towards the next Cabinet Battle when he bumped into a woman in a way too familiar way and grabbed her in a way that was way too familiar, quickly he separated from her as it began to snow in such a cliché way, "Angelica?"
She looked transfixed for a moment before shaking her head, "Do I know you?" She asked a tad confused.
Thomas quickly recovered and shook his head, realizing this woman must just have the same name...Angelica said it was a family name so maybe this Angelica was her descendant or something, "I'm Thomas Jefferson sorry you just reminded me of somebody."
"Oh," Angelica said and shrugged it off, "My name is Angelica Schuyler." He buried the emotions from that exact sentence, "You okay?" She asked.
Thomas nodded, "Sorry I'm just a bit distracted. You said, Schuyler?" He asked and she nodded, "I know that name err...Philip Schuyler, yes? I've heard of you actually, you're his oldest daughter, right?"
Angelica brightened up a little bit, "Yeah! That's me. My dad's the senator of New York now and...I know about you too." She smiled, "The French Ambassador until recently and now you're the Secretary of State."
Thomas expected her to know him, she was exactly like his Angelica, "You're quite an intelligent woman, I like and appreciate that." He told her but then remembered why he was in a hurry, "Oh I have to go!" He hurried off.
Despite knowing he shouldn't Thomas kept in contact with Angelica, he had a bad feeling about it but he let himself fall in love with her again. It was hard not to, she was too easy for him to love and so he kept up with her.
Thomas walked along the sidewalk again, just wandering the street when he heard his name, "Thomas!" He looked over and smiled at the woman calling him, Angelica Schuyler. She waved and ran across the street while yelling, "Yo! I think I love y-" But she was cut off when she was run over by a runaway carriage as Thomas watched in horror.
He ran to her and held her, "Ang-" But he realized immediately after that it was useless, she was gone. He just held her and cried, he didn't mind being caught up in papers seeing as he was a political figure now so this time he could cradle her in his arms.
Thomas eventually faked his death and changed his name to Daveed to keep from being caught as going around with the name Thomas Jefferson after serving as president and making a huge impact on the country he was living in would prove confusing and a tad suspicious.
Daveed sort of couldn't help himself though, he had pride and he had vanity so when he heard that Alexander Hamilton was having his life turned into a musical he just had to try out as himself and he got the part! But when he entered the first rehearsal and his eyes met the woman playing Angelica his heart skipped a beat and he turned to Lac, the sound producer, "Who's she?" He asked.
"That's Renée Goldsberry, our Angelica! Did you know she and Thomas Jefferson knew each other? Maybe you two could talk? It might help you get into character." Lac responded.
"I knew that..." Daveed responded, "I've gotta go pee." He said quickly to excuse himself but he didn't go to the bathroom, he went outside the theater and into an alleyway to unload his emotions as he cried and he cried hard. He remembered all of Angelica's reincarnations that he kept encountering and he realized something...he knew he needed to stay as far away from Renée as possible to keep her safe he just...he needed to put his personal feelings aside for her personal safety.
Never again would he hear the words "I love y-" followed by tragedy.
