The tower, illuminated by nothing yet still visible amongst the dying stars, loomed above me as if my fears had finally been realised. The shards of stone rapidly falling from the top whistled past me, splitting the air and my skin as it fell. The air tasted stagnant upon my semi-sliced tongue and the dust from it burned my lungs. One eye, casually mauled by the judges, remained cloudy and stared straight ahead as I peered upwards. Despite the lack of light, the tower seemed to glimmer amongst the backdrop of the universe. It was... entrancing. With every inhale my trepidation seemed to grow more and more. I couldn't swallow as my throat had long been clogged by fear of what's to come. It had never happened before now, not even standing before all that I had ever known and loved, awaiting judgement for crimes that I may have or may not have committed. This would be the only way to prove either. This would be the only way to get back home. This would be the end of me or my suffering, or possibly even both. I would never be able to restart again... And with that, I leapt forwards.
