[this is set during a period of no Galra attacks, so the Paladins are just forming coalitions and helping races]

>3rd Person POV<

After what seemed like forever, (Y/N) and Lance finally finished moving all the boxes from the lion to the villages new storage.
The Paladins had been helping a couple of planets travel to a new solar system after a Galra station had been set up in theirs and they were taking supplies. Allura and Coran alerted the group but since they weren't attacking, the Paladins left them alone and quietly moved everyone.

(Y/N) was only just finishing as Blue's control system started acting up and (Y/N) was trying to fix it. For some reason, it had picked up a distress signal from a known ship, but wouldn't show the ID code.

"Hey, you guys can start heading back now, everything seems done." Pidges voice echoed through the com and (she/he/they)  signalled to Lance that it was all done.

"On our way, has some problems with Blue. Mind looking at it?" (Y/N) answered, climbing in next to Lance as he shot off to the castle.

"Sure, I'll do it later. First, we have visitors." On that note, Pidge said no more, leaving (Y/N)  to wonder who it was. Maybe it's another planetary official forming a coalition. Or the Blade... or the rebels.

>Your POV (yay!)<

You hadn't seen either for so long. Looking over at Lance, you could tell he was thinking the same.

"(Y/N)? What if it's the Blade?" His voice was barely audible but you were used to it.

"Well, that's a good thing, isn't it? We can see Keith again." A small smile appeared on Lances mouth and you smiled too.

Keith had been with the Blade of Mamora for a couple of months now. Allura has taken over for him and now that Shiro was back to 'normal', the Paladins felt like he didn't want to be near them. The Blade has been unconnected  with them for the same time and everyone, even Lance, was worried about Keith. However, your mind was preoccupied with another thought.

Where were the Rebels?
There had been no transmission after the last delivery and you could tell Pidge was agitated, not knowing where her brother was.

{mini time skip}

The alarms were blaring way too loud and you struggled to pull on your armour. Finally, you ran into the control room to meet Allura and Shiro stood facing a screen full of red dots.

"Ah, you're here. The distress signal Blue picked up wasn't a distress at all. It was a message." Shiro explained as you drew closer. Pidge was frantically typing away next to Allura, who was reading out co-ordinates. You suddenly realised why you were called.

"You want me to go out and bring them in, huh?" Allura nodded from her position and added,
"It's probably the Rebels. We were told they would be back around this time."
With that statement, you bolted to a rescue pod and set out. Luckily, Pidge had already sent the co-ordinates so you get there pretty quick but that wasn't necessarily the best thing.

{3rd Person POV}

(Y/N) arrived at the base which was in ruins. Clearly someone had beaten (her/him/them) to it and 'rescued' the Rebels. There were clear bloodstains on broken metal and smoke everywhere. As (she/he/they) landed, a series of gunshots could be heard from across a smoking ship. (She/he/they) ran towards the noise and dived behind some rubble. Peeking over, 3 figures appeared out of the smoke and was running towards the ship. As they ran, purple bullets flew past them and one was hit in the leg. (Y/N) watched as they shouted something before the others carried on. The shorter one was carrying some sort of glowing device and the taller one was shooting over their shoulder. Without hesitation, they leapt over the rubble and sat down, completely oblivious to (Y/N).

"Ash, you need to get this to Voltron. They'll be able to disable it!" The one closest to (Y/N) said, handing it over and clutching their leg.

"No no no, we need to get you out of here. You're the only one who knows what it can do." The taller one, now Ash, pushed the device back and the other sighed. (Y/N) watched them bicker and listened to the battle above. The attackers seemed to have given up and left but (Y/N) knew they would be searching for the two men next to (her/him/them).

{Your POV}
[blaster shots]
You leant over the rubble and shot at anything that moved. Sadly, this drew attention to you and the two males turned quickly, the closer one leaping backwards and immediately shouted in agony. Ash began to help him but a shot sped over his head and he ducked down, grabbing his own blaster.

"My ship is around the corner, can you get there while we hold them off?" You said, turning to the one on the floor. As you looked at him, you realised he was actually about your age. His hair was messy and he was struggling to keep his eyes open.

"You help him. I'll keep them at bay. There's only a few left anyway." Ash instructed and you strung the boys arm over your shoulders, shoving the device in between you and him. He was shaking as he collapsed against you and his face was drained of colour.

After picking your way through the scrap, the two made it back to the ship. The boy was almost unconscious and you were having a hard time keeping him awake.

His companion raced back minutes later. You fired the ship up and flew into the atmosphere, eager to get away from who ever wanted them dead.

Ash offered to drive as he didn't know how to stitch a wound. You exited the controls and went to see the damage to the boy.

As you drew closer, he tried to get up but you ran over and pushed him back down.

"You need to rest if you want that to heal. When we get back, I'll put you in a healing pod." He nodded slowly and allowed you to tear his blood-stained pants away to look.

It was a reasonably large hole, spanning almost the whole of his thigh. You hear him hiss as you go to wipe the blood away and reached to his hand.

"Here, squeeze my hand. It'll help." You smile and he gratefully takes it, tightly latching your fingers. It was a lot harder cleaning it with one hand and you swore you saw a blush creep up his face when you smiled.

"By the way, I'm Matt." His hand loosened slightly and he smiled at me.

"(Y/N) and I'm pretty much finished with this!" You said as the last bandage settled into place. Matt sat up and admired your work.

"Thanks (Y/N)!" He flung an arm around your shoulders, like you had before, except he pulled you towards him. You felt a soft, light kiss on your cheek and suddenly two hands were on them. You look at Matt and saw Ash snicker before calling out,
"He's a right flirt! We are almost there now."
