STELLA COLLINS KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. It wasn't just because of the fact that it had been hours since Will Byers had gone missing, but because she was radioed by Mike Wheeler, whose voice was rushed and full of panic. She could barely decode what the young boy had said as he was clearly in a state of alarm and needed her help, which only concerned her more.

Stella didn't really know what to do in that moment. She was the only worker in the store and it was growing closer to closing time, but it was against the rules to lock up until the end of her shift. Her fingers tapped loudly against the countertop and her knee bounced up and down as she grew more and more anxious. Her dark hair was growing knotted from the many times she had run her hair through it, and her hands were clammy and gross.

"One more hour," she muttered to herself, sighing deeply. The place was utterly dead, there hadn't been a customer for the last few hours and there wouldn't be any more until the next day, a fact she knew. A frustrated huff left her lips as she stared down at her art assignment that was due next week. Usually she finished her work for her favourite subject a long time before it was due, but now she was stuck. She had no idea how she was supposed to do anything with the burden of Will's disappearance plaguing her mind.

As a way to put off her anxiety, she reached for her walkman that sat at her side, a half scratched off sticker of a love heart on the front. She pulled her headphone over her ears and leaned back in her chair, pressing play and closing her eyes as Roger Daltrey's voice silenced her roaring mind.

"Star!" Lucas exclaimed, relief washing over his features as he swung open the door. Stella could barely force a smile as she stepped through the back entrance of the Wheeler home, bursting into the basement with her work bag slung over her shoulder.

She had been caught in the pouring rain, and since it was too dangerous to skate, she was stuck walking home in her canvas shoes. Her body was soaked from head to toe and she was shivering, but she had decided to go straight to Mike's instead of going to her own home first.

"What's up? What's happened? Did you find Will-" Stella blurted out as soon as she saw the other two boys. They were both clearly distraught, which didn't slow her beating heart. Without saying a word, Dustin pointed to the couch, so she looked over and her mouth dropped immediately. "Holy shit."

Sitting in front of her was a young...girl?  in a pair of sweatpants and a thick blue crewneck jumper. Her head was shaved into a buzzcut and she stared back at Stella with wide, frightened eyes. It wasn't what she was expecting to see at all, so she could understand why the boys were so hysterical.
