richie always felt safer at bill house than his own. bill's mother was sweet and caring and always helped fix up richie when he "fell down the stairs." richie was silent on the walk to bill's house, the whole world was. the only sound was bill humming a soothing tune to richie and the sound of the pair's feet shuffling on the pavement.
