Bleeding

I wanted to have this up in time for Trans Remembrance Day on the 20th, but I went into a really bad dissociative episode, so I didn't.

So that time is generally filled with a lot of dysphoria. It sucks, I know. But one thing that helps me a lot is CODEWORDS. Being able to talk about it without actually talking about it helps me a lot.

One of the most common I see is 'shark week', but I've never really been a fan since a lot of cis women use it as well.
One of my favorites is calling it 'Tom'. It stands of 'time of the month', but putting a masc name to it really helps me. It's also pretty useful in conversation.

Eg:
"Tom came to town today."
"Oh, that sucks. Do you have a gift for him?"
"No, he came unexpectedly this time. Could you help me find something for him?"
Translation: I'm bleeding and don't have pads or tampons, please help.

Something else I've known people to do is to have a phrase completely unrelated, kinda like a safeword. I've seen 'I dropped my shoe' and 'I had broccoli for dinner'. Basically, something you would never say in normal conversation, but won't seem completely wild to anyone who overhears. It also allows a certain level of disconnect between the conversation and what's happening.
