...Your foot lightly touched the dusty ground of the slums, the moon illuminated the starved faces of your friends. Their bodies slumped on the rotting walls, barely with energy to look up. You know without looking at them, the eyes so dark and dull, swimming with misery and despair. This is the true face of the slums, it seems so pathetic to think about how prince Alibaba Saluja have been describing it all as. Rainbows, sunshine and fun, you suppose.
Walking through the narrow streets and dead ends, you finally stopped before a pile of dump and junk. A silhouette of a man perched on the very top.
"Kassim," you called, "it's almost time."
"(Y/N), the moon is beautiful tonight like every other night," he said, gazing into the black sky.
"Not as beautiful as the lives, jewels and food we're getting tonight," you replied, watching him turn around towards you. His face unreadable, unlike most times, when he would nod and lead the pack to the noble's house already.
"(Y/N), perhaps, well, I think it's time for us to be, you know, good," Kassim said walking down from the junk hill.
You couldn't hide your laughter as you pounded on the ground under you. "Good? Are you kidding me Kassim? Why would we do good when people around us are all selfish and self-centred brats?" You snapped, "after what happened to your sister, do you really think those monsters deserves goodness from us?"
"I talked with Alibaba this morning," he replied, ignoring your previous question, "He told me not everyone is like that, people can be kind, good, peasants and nobles alike."
"Anddddd you believed him?" You asked, raising an eyebrow. Smiling in amusement and at your friend's stupidity.
"I did," he whispered, " I believe we don't have to walk down into the path of evil anymore."
"We?" You asked furiously, your previous expression gone in an instant, "more like you, YOU are going to walk down in that path ALONE."
"(Y/N) please-"
Turning around, you left. Leaving a trail of blood, despair, murder at your wake, in many years to come. Due to your stubborn nature, you refuse to go into the light, only to realise Kassim was right.
