Demons In The Sky

Mother Gothel's POV

After I had cast that spell, I had no idea if I was going if I was going to come back as a demon or a human. I rose into the sky, emerald green flames appearing in both palms of my hands. My eyes glowed the same color as the blazes in my hand, and my hair floated above my head.

Without a thought, I rapidly threw my flames at the towers, at the guards, and even at Rapunzel. Cackling slightly, I loved to see the sight of worry etched onto the soldiers' faces, and the magnificent towers crumble. I lost complete control over who I had become. My skin felt like porcelain and I felt a small crack above my eyebrow, slowly making its way down to my chin.

Probably an effect of the spell that I cast, I thought.

The last standing guards after my rampage were yelling and screaming, a very unmanly thing to do in my opinion. Some struggled to get away from me, and others who were selfless tried to get to Rapunzel, wanting to protect her. But as I followed my eyes to the stream of bloodied guards, I saw my daughter. Well, not technically my daughter since I stole her from her parents, but anyway...

She had a streak of blood across her cheek, and she was wielding a dented frying pan, hitting away from the monsters that got too close for her liking. My heart softened at the sight, I watched her grow up all alone in that cursed tower, she wasn't even my daughter, but I still hold a place for her in my heart.

Realizing what I had been doing, I snapped out of the trance and called my remaining forces back. All of the royal members had given confused looks, and I met Rapunzel's eyes. They looked frightened, and the green orbs danced, looking between me and her guards. With one look, she dashed back inside the tower and whispered into her maid's ear. The maid looked surprised but at the same time understanding.

Like the foolish monsters they are, my last creations looked up at me, not heeding my command to fall back. One even scratched its head and held its wooden club at its side. Rolling my eyes, I shouted at them, "Fall back, you brainless imbeciles!"

The mob finally understood what I said and started running back to where they came from, and I laid the open book on the sand. The cursed spellbook served as a portal for the beasts, allowing them to go back to the underworld. When they went in, the book glowed in response.

I sighed. I decided that I would just have to create some more when I got back to my stone lair. Bending down and picking up the book after all the Giants had made their way in, it felt like someone was watching me, but I shrugged it off and created a portal for myself so I could go straight home.

Rapunzel's POV

Mother took a last glance at me before she disappeared into the portal that she had created. Little did she know that I was watching her the whole time, and I internally laughed at my "foster mother" for being so unknowing. She had revealed small bits and pieces of what she could do, and I had watched enough to figure out what the book she was holding actually was.

Thank you dearly, Mother, for sharing some of your secrets with me.

Well, this is where I actually started to decently improve my writing...
