Herc situated my jacket over my shoulders.
"Oh Laurens is going to love this. Don't worry about Laf for one second. Make sure nothing can ruin tonight," he instructed.
I nodded, glancing at the fairy lights set up around the room. James supplied flowers from the nature club and those just made the entire setting look merrier. (And rather romantic)
Behind me, Burr was fiddling with my hair.
"Will you stop that?"
"Do you want to look decent, Alexander?"
"It would be optimal," I mumbled, trying to make sure he didn't catch it.
"That's what I thought.
Maria stood in front of all three of us, a camera dangling from her hand.
"Will you hurry up?! We have ten minutes," she grumbled.
Herc patted my chest and Burr left my hair alone.
"Now you two move! I'm getting a picture."
"This isn't prom, Maria," I complained.
She promptly threw a middle finger at me before Burr shoved a bouquet of flowers in my hand.
"Say 'I'm gay'!"
"No-"
She clicked before I got a chance to smile, but luckily I plastered on a goofy grin for the second and third tries.
"Perfect! Okay, Herc go divert Laf, NOW!" she commanded.
Burr left after him leaving Maria and I alone.
I fell down defeatedly on the bed. I haven't even been with John yet I was already exhausted.
Maria fell down next to me.
"Remember when we first talked on this bed?"
"Of course. That was the day after I met John," I mused.
"And the morning after he fucked you," she added. "That feels so long ago."
"Yeah... Here's to another six months of good friendship and great memories."
I pretended to hold a champagne glass and raised up my empty hand. She did the same.
"To friendship and homosexuals!"
I chuckled.
"To friendship and homosexuals!" I repeated.
Our celebration was cut short by a text sent to Maria.
"Shit, I gotta go!"
She planted a kiss on my forehead.
"Good luck! Don't mess everything up!"
She dashed out the door, slamming it in the process.
