"I have the perfect movie for us to watch tonight!" Y/N excitedly said from beside me.
6 months.
It's been 6 months since me and Y/N L/N became friends. In the course of those 6 months, she had managed to wiggle her way into my life to the point where it was hard to imagine life without her beaming smile greeting me when I looked to my side. It was also getting harder to hide the fact that I was completely in love with her but was too much of an idiot to do anything about it.
"Let me guess?" I placed my hand on my chin, pretending to think. "Is it The Little Mermaid again?"
"Why are you saying that like it's a bad thing? You love that movie!" She bumped my shoulder. "Also, it's my turn to choose a movie for movie night remember?"
"Like you would ever let me forget, Y/N." Our hands were brushing against each other every step we took.
"Exactly." She wound her arm with mine and pressed herself to my side. I looked down at her and found her staring back at me. She scanned my face while I navigated us to her locker. I knew that she saw my black eye, no matter how hard I tried to cover it with May's concealer. I also knew that she would question me once we stopped walking. We arrived at her locker and she stood in front of me.
"Peter." Y/N whispered. I pretended to busy myself with opening my bag.
"Hmm?" I asked, not looking at her. She placed her hand underneath my chin and pushed it up so that I met her eyes. Her concerned eyes looked into mine for clarification. I sighed. "It's nothing, Y/N. Just a scratch." I tried to make light of the situation.
Y/N moved her hand so that it cupped the side of my face. She rubbed her thumb across my bruise which made me flinch a little. I heard her take in a sharp breath.
"It doesn't look like nothing, Pete." She moved closer to me. "When are you gonna tell me the truth? Don't you trust me?"
I took her hand from my face and squeezed it. We had held hands before but it still made my heart skip. The fact that she was so close to me didn't help either. "I-It's not that, Y/N. Things," My mind raced to the events of last night. "Things are complicated right now."
She sighed and opened her locker. "You say that every time, Peter."
"I want to tell you. I really do." I explained.
"There's a 'but' isn't there?" She grabbed her notebook from inside and shut the door close.
"But it isn't the right time yet." Images of The Vulture flashed in my head.
"Just..." Y/N reached out to entwine our fingers. "Be careful, please."
"Always am." I pulled her close and kissed her forehead, making her sigh in content. She wrapped her arms around my waist and I placed an arm around her shoulders.
Moments like this reminded me of what I could have forever if I could only tell her how I feel. These past few months of knowing each other basically made us inseparable and she keeps me sane in this crazy new world I'm living in. If only you had the guts to tell her that, Parker.
"Oh, lookie here." A familiar voice interrupted us. I heard Y/N mumble something under her breath.
"What is it, Flash?" She spat.
"Nothing. Just noticed you and Parker getting cozy." Flash crossed his arms, a smirk plastered on his smug face. "When are you gonna finish up this charity case anyways? Dad just got me a new car. I could take you out for a spin after last period."
Y/N raised her eyebrows and scoffed. "First of all, thanks but no thanks. And second, Peter isn't a charity case. He's my best friend, you ass."
Flash's smirk fell off his face. "He's not even on your level, sweetheart. You're from the Upper East Side and he's from Queens! What's so great about him anyways, huh?"
"He's not you." That shut Flash up. Y/N took my hand and pulled me to the direction of our classroom. By the way she was speed walking, I could tell that Flash struck a nerve.
"Y/N, wait." I pulled her hand to stop her. "You alright?"
She tucked her hair behind her ear. Something I learned she did when she was frustrated.
"It's nothing. Flash is just an idiot."
"You say that every time." I repeated her words from a while ago. She rolled her eyes, smiling a little. I rubbed the back of her hand with my thumb. "Don't let him get to you."
She nodded. Suddenly, I felt two hands on my shoulder.
"Hey, you two." Ned Leeds made his presence known to us and we dropped our connected hands.
"Hey, Ned." Y/N said. Ned waved at her.
"If you lovebirds are done staring at each other lovingly, maybe we can get to class?" I elbowed Ned who grunted in response. Y/N blushed.
Ring. Ring. Riiiiinng.
The sound of a phone ring filled our ears. Y/N pulled out her phone from the pocket of her skirt. She scrunched her eyebrows at the screen.
"Just a minute, guys. I gotta take it, it's my dad."
"Sure, go ahead. We'll wait for you." I said.
"Hello, daddy?...Yeah, I'm in school...But, daddy...I understand that but I have a test today. I can't miss it...But..." She sighed. "Okay, I'll be there." She hung up and ran a hand down her face.
"Everything okay?"
"My dad wants me at this event right now. Something he didn't think to tell me beforehand."
"But, we have a Spanish quiz." Ned offered.
"I know, but I can't disobey my dad." She shrugged. "I gotta go. I'll see you tonight?"
"Of course."
She gave me a weak smile and pushed up on her tiptoes to kiss my cheek. I turned red almost immediately. Y/N gave Ned a hug before speed walking to the doors of the school.
"If you don't ask her out anytime soon, I'm going to do it for you." Ned said.
"She'll never say yes." I gulped.
"Dude, are you for real right now?" Ned exclaimed. "She's probably just as in love with you as you are with her and if you don't see that you're not the genius everyone thinks you are."
"Ned, I don't want to lose what we have right now."
"No, man. You're just scared. Coming from Spider-Man," He whispered. "That's low." I glared at him. "Just try. You two are good for each other."
Were we?

I knocked on the door of the L/N residence, grocery bag in hand. Knowing how tired Y/N gets after one of her father's events, I brought along all her favorite snacks.
The door swung open and Y/N's weary face appeared. When she saw it was me, she smiled.
"Hey." I mumbled.
"Hi." She gestured for me to go inside. Y/N was barefooted and still wearing her dress from the event.
"Tired?" I placed the bag on the kitchen counter. The apartment was quiet, meaning Y/N was home alone. Again.
"Yeah. Kissing up to your father's business partners for 3 hours straight can really do a number on someone. Not to forget that dad was being unreasonable as usual." She wrapped her arms around me and rested her head against my back. I twisted around in her hold and rubbed her back the way I knew she liked.
"It's over now." I whispered against her hair. "Guess what I brought?" She lifted her head from my chest.
"What?" Digging in the bag, I found the small bag of sweets and lifted it up for her to see. "Skittles! You're the best, Peter. Now, come on. I want to watch Little Mermaid now."
I rolled my eyes and let her pull me to the couch. We sat down and immediately Y/N snuggled close to my side. I placed an arm around her.
Y/N turned the TV on and the familiar fanfare filled our ears. I watch Y/N mouth every word of the movie. Something that shocked me the first time she forced me to watch it. I was finally relaxing when my phone beeped. Signalling me that someone either needed to be stopped or saved. I groaned.
"What's wrong?"
Her eyes shined with concern. How did I get so lucky as to end up with the girl of my dreams tucked under my arm? I didn't deserve her but for once, I wanted to be selfish. I wanted so bad to ignore the beeping in my pocket. I wanted to follow Ned's advice and tell her how I felt.
I wanted to do so much but there were bigger things to do.
"I have to go."
Y/N sat up straighter. "Again? Peter, this is the fifth time you're leaving out of the blue."
"I-I'm sorry. But I have to do this."
"Where do you run off to? I'm worried for you."
"Don't be. I'm okay. I promise. I'll tell you soon about this but for now you have to trust me."
She had tears in her eyes. "Okay." She sighed. I held her hand and placed a kiss to the back of it before going off to imminent danger. As I changed and exited the house, I decided to go up to peek inside the window.
She was still sat on the couch, holding the pack of skittles I gave her. She wiped at her eyes. I rested my head against the wall and groaned. I knew that the constant disappearances by not only me but also her parents, took a toll on Y/N. And I hated being the cause of her tears. The sound of an explosion tore me from my thoughts. I took one last look at Y/N and swung off.
