Austin's POV

What the hell was that? One minute we were kissing and then the next she was screaming at me.

I would have run after her but her reaction put me in a state of shock.

I halted outside of her door and gently knocked.

Was she okay? Did I do something wrong?

"Danielle are you alright?"

My heart dropped when I heard her give out a hoarse sob. She was heaving in breaths, trying to calm herself down.

I could barely hear her when she faintly whispered, "Austin, it's all my fault. It's not yours. Dear god, it has nothing to do with you. I just need some time."

"Danielle-"

"Austin please just leave me alone."

Shaking my head, I turned away from the door. I understood she needed time so I quietly went downstairs to the kitchen. Opening a cabinet and pulling out a bottle of liquor seemed to calm my nervousness.

Danielle's POV

Hearing him go was almost like a comfort. I let out a long and steady breath. Gaining control of my emotions was something I was never great at.

Austin was so amazing and kind, yet I can't help but feel uncomfortable around him. Any man that approaches me causes me to panic.

Why couldn't I trust him?
