Chapter 28 - Doctor no more

TAMED XXVIII - DOCTOR NO MORE

"BRENT, where were you last night?" Kanina ko pa 'to gustong itanong. Nagkita kami ngayong umaga para mag-jogging, mamayang gabi na iyong last event namin kaya wagas na ako sa paghahanda.

"I sent my mom off to the airport, and then I headed back to the hotel to rest. Hindi na nga ako nakapunta sa beach town para i-check 'yong mobile stage natin dahil sa antok kaya natulog na lang ako."

Even after seeing him with another woman in the seaside resort, I asked him about it. I was banking on his honesty and that the other woman was nothing more than a friend. Unfortunately, he just kept lying and lying, which chipped away at my trust in him.

Sinundo ako ni Trina sa room namin para ibalitang kanselado ang ganap mamayang gabi. Magandang balita siguro para sa 'kin dahil makakapag-ensayo pa ako pero naging kabado naman ako at nag-overthink pa dahil biglaan ang pag-cancel.

"Trina, stay here and wait more me, okay?" What happened outside the hotel between Franko and Professor Sandoval ruined everything good that had taken place last night and made it difficult for me to sleep.

Trina, to no one's surprise but her own, mumbled, "Why are we even here?"

We were greeted by Franko, who was standing before us with his small towel around his waist. It was obvious he had just stepped out of the shower or bath when we knocked because water was still dripping down his rippling muscles.

"Yes? How can I help you ladies?"

"Sorry po, sir, maling room ang napuntahan namin," palusot ko na lang at mabilis na hinila si Trina palayo.

"Why did we go to his room?!"

"Kwarto 'yon ni Professor Sandoval," hindi makatinging sagot ko. I was too chicken to ask, but there's the answer right in front of me! Sa suite ng propesora natutulog ang lalaking 'yon! Tangina?!

"Hey, babe! I just remembered, I'm really sorry about last night. I covered your eyes because I thought you were into Sir Franko, confirmed nga kasi you really went there para makita siyang hubad. My bad, forgive me?"

"Nurse, gising na siya, oh!" bulalas ko at umaktong nasusuka sa sinabi niya."Kakasabi ko lang na suite 'yon ni ma'am, eh!"

"Hoy, bakla ka! So sino talagang pinuntahan mo ro'n? Si Professor Sandoval? Do you like her? Kaya naman pala may paharana kagabi!"

Hahaba lang ang usapan kapag sinagot ko pa huling biro niya, nangpanggap na lang akong hindi siya narinig. Ayokong mag-elevator, parang gusto kong pagurin sarili ko ngayon hangga't sa mamanhid ako.

Maghapon kaming nag-practice sa mobile stage kasama ng iba pang co-candidates ko. Masyadong abala si Richelle kaya hindi pa kami nag-uusap. Wala kasing ibang laman ang isip ko buong araw kundi sama ng loob, baka lang matulungan niya ako.

Kung sa doktor na lang kaya ako pumunta?

"What do you plan to showcase as your talent in the pageant tomorrow?" Chevone approached me with that question. Kandidata rin siya, at siya rin ang dahilan kung bakit ako muntik matapilok ng dalawang beses kanina dahil para siyang truck na nawawalan ng preno kakabangga sa 'kin.

"Tightrope walking." I lost my interest in the juice I was drinking and stopped. "Kaya ngayon pa lang pag-isipan mo na kung paano mo puputulin 'yong lubid na gagamitin ko bukas ng gabi."

I'm drained and preoccupied with matters of the heart, so chatting with me should be their final choice if they want to wrap up their day on a good note.
