Psalms 124:1-8; 125:1-5

We are met with praise and thanksgiving by the people to God for His deliverance of their nation in times of great danger.  Psalm124 is attributed to David.  Verses 1-2 begin in (NKJV) with acknowledgment of God's help.
"If it had not been for the Lord who was on our side..."
(In Hebrew it translates "the Lord was for us."  What a beautiful thought.
"God is my Strength and Salvation, whom should I fear."
(Psalms 140:7; 118:1-4; 129:1-2; Romans 8:31.)
"Let Israel now say, 'IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR THE LORD WHO WAS ON OUR SIDE,"
(Exodus 3:14-15-amen)
If God had not been on our side..."When men rose up against us, they would have swallowed us alive when their wrath was kindled against us."
(Except for God our fate was turned around and sent for a spin.  God won for us!)
"Then the waters would have overwhelmed us;"
(But they didn't!  They stood up for them.)
"The streams would have gone over our soul;"
(Psalm 93 :3-4)
"then the swollen waters would have gone over our soul."
(This miracle in Exodus 14:16, 21-22 was not only victory over the physical but a victory by the trust of the soul in God's power.)
Psalm 24:6-8 reveals the move of God in miracles for Israel to be grateful for. (CEB)-"BlessThe Lord because he didn't and a sober like food for enemies teeth! "
(He is our source of blessing; Psalm 103:1-5 again)
"We escaped like a bird from the hunters trap; the trap was broken so we escaped."
(Psalm 91:3; Proverbs 6:5; 11:1-7.)
"I will help is in the name of the Lord the maker of heaven and earth. "
(Genesis 1:1; Remember Psalms 121:2; 134:2-3)
With victory in Psalm 124 we move on to a hymn of trust in Psalm 125. Starting with verses 1-2-(TLB)-"those who trust in the Lord as steady as Mount Zion, and moved by any circumstances."
(Psalm 48:1-3, 8, 14; 1 Kings 11:38)
"Just as the mountains surround and protect Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds and protects his people. "
(Jerusalem was built on one of seven mountain peaks. It could only be entered by mountain passes well protected. God is greater then any of this for he was the creator of it!)
Psalm 125:3-(CEB)-"The wicked rod won't remain in the land given to righteousness so they don't use their hands to do anything wrong. "
(Proverbs 22:8; The words "wicked Rod" is a scepter of wickedness is symbol of evil power. The word of God says "the gates of hell will not prevail" when God is our protector-Matthew 16:18; We will be delivered from the temptation of using ungodly powers by the hand of God.)
Then Psalm 125:4-(TEV)-"Lord, do good to those who are good, to those who obey your commands!"
(Psalm 128:1; Obedience is imperative not a suggestion..."
("To obey is better than sacrifice..."-q Samuel 15:22b)
The opposite is in Sam 12:5-(MCV)-"But, Lord, when you remove those who do evil, also remove those who stop following you."
(Ouch!  We are only safe and protected if we are in Christ. Remember, however, he has a punishment of removal for those who turn away from him, also. We return to our sick life and push him aside; Psalm 14:2-3; Proverbs 2:13-15)
Finally the last part and most important part of Psalm 120:5B says (NCV "let there be peace in Israel. "
(Back to PEACE AGAIN!  Numbers 6:24-26-and give you peace; Galatians 6:14-18)
The best way to close these chapters is to repeat the third verse of Psalm 124 and the last verse of Psalm 125.
(TEV)-"Our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth."

(NCV)-"Let there be peace in Israel. "

We are free in Jesus Christ but don't abuse that freedom by dabbling In Sin!

We still have help from God if we call on him,
and there will be a place for us
as long as we honor him
and respect his commands!

I love you Lord for what you've done for me!!!
