Psalm 145:1-21

We find David, who it is believed, made this Psalm his Victory Song after battles.  Our God is a Victorious, Awesome God!  We also discover the journey through history of God's people.  In Hebrew the song is called "tehillim" which is  part of the songs of Praise.  It extols and glorifies God, who is referred to in PSALM 22:3 as "Yahweh enthroned on the praises of Israel."  Therefore the two thoughts presented make  "Salvation History Psalm"-the central subject of recitation of God's Mighty Deeds in Israel's History.  It retells the show of God's Faithfulness even when His people strayed and followed their own ways.  We need to know the history as it is a strong lesson to us to follow God and not our own hearts' desires.  He is Faithful to His Word!   (Read Deuteronomy 6:5; 1 Chronicles 29:13-16; 28:19-prayer for our children)
         Let's start Psalm 145:1-3-(TLB)-
"I will praise You, my God and King, and bless Your Name each day and forever."
(The word Praise in NKJV IS "extol"-one of many Hebrew words for Praise.  It also means "to hold high or esteem greatly".  The Psalmist's desire to know God is bound up in the strong verb he begins with-"Praise."  The "I will" is a vow to God!  The "each day" is evident!)
"Great is Jehovah!  Greatly Praise Him! His greatness is beyond discovery!"
(Psalm 147:5; Romans 11:33)
Psalm145:4-7-(NKJV) gives us a breakdown of the way the praise is passed from generation to generation:
    1. Declaration-"one generation shall praise Your Works to another, and shall DECLARE YOUR MIGHTY ACTS."
(Isaiah 38:19)
    2. Meditate-"I will MEDITATE on the Glorious Splendor of Your Majesty, and on YOUR WONDROUS WORKS."
(Meditate takes in the memory of God's acts!)
    3. Speak and Declare-"Men shall SPEAK of the Might of Your AWESOME ACTS, and I will DECLARE YOUR GREATNESS."
(It's up to us to pass on what we see and hear to the next generation.)
    4. Utter-Sing-"They shall UTTER the MEMORY of YOUR GREAT GOODNESS.  And shall SING OF YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS."
(Exodus 3:15-to all generations of the "I AM."; Pass it on!; the word used here for memory is a "Memorial" in Hebrew, permanently set up for the next generation to see.)
         Psalm 145:8-9-(TLB)-
"Jehovah is":
    1. "KIND..."
    2. "And MERCIFUL,"
    3. "SLOW TO GET ANGRY,"
    4. "FULL OF LOVE."
    5. "HE IS GOOD TO EVERYONE,"
    6. "AND HIS COMPASSION IS INTERTWINED WITH EVERYTHING HE DOES."
(Here are 6 attributes of God observed by men; Numbers 14:18; Exodus 34:6-7; Nehemiah 1:7-Remembrance; Psalms 86:5, 15; 111:4; 112:4-Faithfulness.  He remembers the Good and the bad.)
         Psalm 145:10-13 Continues in (CEB)-:
    7. "All that You made gives THANKS to You, Lord, All Your faithful ones BLESS You!"
(Psalms 19:1-3; 111:2-3)
    8. "They speak of the GLORY OF YOUR KINGDOM;"
    9. "They talk about ALL YOUR POWER, to inform all human beings about GOD'S POWER."
    10. "And the MAJESTIC GLORY OF GOD'S KINGDOM."
    11. "YOUR KINGDOM IS A KINGSHIP THAT LASTS FOREVER."
    12. "YOUR RULE ENDURES TO ALL GENERATIONS."
(1 Timothy 1:17)
Since God is trustworthy FOREVER and to all, let's go on in Psalm 145:14-16-(TEV)-:
    13. "HE HELPS ALL WHO ARE IN TROUBLE;"
(Psalm 146:18-19a)
    14. "HE RAISES ALL WHO ARE HUMBLED."
(This does not refer to self-humbling, but to those who by shame from others are humiliated by others.)
    15. "ALL LIVING THINGS LOOK HOPEFULLY TO HIM."
    16. "HE GIVES THEM FOOD WHEN THEY NEED IT."
(Psalms 104:27; 136:25)
    17. "HE GIVES THEM ENOUGH..."
    18. "AND SATISFIES THE NEEDS OF ALL."
(Psalm104:21, 28)
         We conclude with Psalm 145:17-21-(NKJV)-:
    19. "THE LORD IS RIGHTEOUS IN ALL HIS WAYS,"
    20. "GRACIOUS IN ALL HIS WORKS."
    21. "THE LORD IS NEAR TO ALL WHO CALL UPON HIM, WHO CALL UPON HIM IN TRUTH."
    22. "HE WILL FULFILL THE DESIRE OF THOSE WHO FEAR HIM;"
(Deuteronomy 4:7)
    23. "HE ALSO WILL HEAR THEIR CRY AND SAVE THEM."
(John 4:24)
    24. "THE LORD PRESERVES ALL WHO LOVE HIM.  BUT ALL THE WICKED HE WILL DESTROY."
(Psalm 31:23)
And finally the close of Psalm 145:21-(-NKJV)-The vow to God by the Psalmist:
"MY MOUTH SHALL SPEAK THE PRAISE OF THE LORD, AND ALL FLESH SHALL BLESS HIS HOLY NAME FOREVER AND EVER. "

I will close this Psalm with verses from the next Psalm as they fit here very well!
Psalm 146:1-2:
I WILL EXTOL YOU, MY GOD, O KING;

I WILL BLESS YOUR HOLY NAME FOREVER AND EVER.

EVERYDAY I WILL BLESS YOU,

AND I WILL PRAISE YOUR NAME FOREVER AND EVER."

"GREAT IS THE LORD

AND GREATLY TO BE PRAISED;"
