"You're a little man-whore now, aren't you, Nolen!"
"Ever since you got your girly little make-over, you thought you became all cool but Stacie cheated on you and yo're still the same loser you always were!"
"Why do you even try? Nothing you do will ever make anyone like you!"
I pushed my way through the crowd that surrounded Nolen at his locker.
"Nolen!" I yelled for him. "It's me, Paige!"
"Paige!" He replied and pushed past people.
The two of us ran down the hallway until we found a storage closet to hide in.
"What was all that? Are people making fun of you again? Do I need to go beat them up?" I asked frantically.
Nolen laughed a little bit. "No, no. They were just... Justin told people everything... they were addressing the rumors."
"So they 'address the rumors' by calling you names and yelling?" I asked madly. "No, I don't think so!"
"I've learned to ignore it." Nolen said. "And if your going to be friends with me, you need to ignore it too."
I sighed. "That's my problem. I don't want to be friends with you, Nolen."
"W-what?" He mumbled, a little choked up.
I smiled. "I want to be more than friends with you." I leaned in and kissed Nolen.
We both laughed when we pulled away.
"So, do you want to be my girlfriend?" Nolen asked, blushing.
I nodded. "I'd love to be your girlfriend."
After the bell rang, Nolen and I walked out of the closet and made our way to class. People were still buzzing in the halls and shouting things at Nolen and now me too since the two of us were holding hands.
Throughout the day, everyone continued shouting things at us. It was annoying. I wanted to hurt them all.
The worst thing happened after school though.
Justin ran up behind Nolen and I and shoved both of us down. Nolen caught himself and didn't hit the floor but I did.
"Justin!" I shouted. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"Don't touch my girlfriend!" Nolen yelled.
Justin laughed. "Yesterday she was my girlfriend, buddy, and yesterday me and you were friends."
"Not anymore!" Nolen replied as he helped me up.
I gave Justin a dirty look. "What do you want?"
"I want you back." Justin smirked. "I miss you."
"No." I said. "After that, I will never date you again."
Nolen laughed. "Push a girl down and then ask her out... Classy, Justin."
Justin flipped off Nolen. "Once a nerd always a nerd."
"I may be a nerd but I have the world in my hand." Nolen squeezed my hand and winked at me.
I smiled back.
"Wow." Justin snorted. "Cheesey."
I rolled my eyes. "Nobody wants you anymore, Justin. I'm happy with Nolen and Nolen is happy with me. You just need to leave."
Justin shook his head. "I don't know what I ever saw in you, Paige. I don't know why I dated you. You weren't ever worth it."
"I don't care!" I screamed. To be honest, I felt a litle hurt. "I'm happy now!"
Nolen tugged on my arm. "Let's leave him. He's not worth our time."
I ran down the hall holding hands with Nolen and suddenly stopped running and started crying.
"What's wrong, babe?" Nolen held me in his arms.
"I don't know." I sobbed.
Nolen stroked my hair. "Why are you crying?"
"I don't know!" I repeated a little more assertively.
Nothing was said for a while. Nolen and I just stood there and hugged.
Finally, I composed myself and apologized. "I don't know what got into me. I guess it just hurt a little bit because we were so close until yesterday."
"It's alright. I understand." He soothed me. "I'm here for you now and I won't leave you."
"Thanks." I smiled at him. "Nolen, I... I love you."
Nolen smiled back at me. "I love you too."
We kissed and then went home for the day.
