To Castle Klatka be this missive delivered,

The thirteenth of October, Fourteen Hundred and Seventy-nine

To my sister, Hero,

Have reach'd Breadfield by way of the Mures River.  The Turks are more bold than ever, pillaging and stealing babes from the breast of their mothers.  Our numbers of close to fifty thousand vow that the Ottoman horde will be sent from Transylvania or to their graves.  The Hungarian army here is under the control of General Pal Kinizsi.  Thousands have died under his leadership.  We are stronger than ever, and shall win out the day.

Expect me to be traveling back to Styria very soon, dearest.  Give my love to the young ones.  And pray for my cognizance and temperament when your heart thinks of mine.  I have not been to Transylvania in three years.  This is a strange place for me, with a worrisome history I have never divulged.

Your devoted brother, Ezzelin
