MELL'S NOTES BOOK
November 2, 2245 - Later
Entry #9 - Handwritten

What in Elder Priest's name did I just read? Is this real?

I feel so bad for Ezzelin and his sister. If he went back home after all this, did he hurt his family? Is that what he meant by settling affairs? Did he even really know what he was doing? I won't know for sure, because there are no more letters from him. I scanned ahead.

Just as Bryne had done, I continued on, desiring to search for the end of the Dracula Index. It seems to stop abruptly in the 1800s. Certainly, there are more books we must discover.

Regardless, it seems like that is all we are allowed to know about Ezzelin. I hope the tablet has more from him at a later date. It could be much later, in fact. "Time no longer had meaning" for him. Those words are like a bolt of lightning to my logical mind. I wish, for the good parts of his soul, that he found death soon after writing that final letter. Maybe I'm right, since they were never opened.

From how it sounds, Dracula seduced "Azzo" into infecting himself. I don't know why we ever called this an infection. It's so much more than that. The Chronoscope put Azzo's letters first so we could know that Vlad Tepes manipulated those stone tablets to live beyond death. So if this is the virus, if this is how our ancestors perished, did it spread from "doing to others", as he said? And is there some key in the history of this monster to rescuing our people from such a hideous future? How does present-day Kumpan play into all this?

There is still so little that I know. My curiosity keeps begging me to read on, but I think General Ireath wakes early. I should get my rest. Tomorrow, we are beginning the plan to retrieve the Scaver maps of the wasteland. Nothing is more important than finding the other Notes Books.
