"You're not really staying...are you?" I asked her, rather bitterly in fact. She looked at me, as if to confirm my beliefs...even though I didn't want them to be true. She nodded and began to explain.
"I have to Keith...my mother's still out there and you guys need to protect the universe—I would just be in the way." She explained, but I didn't want to except it. She couldn't leave us! Not now at least!
"If that's what you want then, we have no reason to deny it." I heard Shiro say in a dejected tone beside me. I didn't even have to look at his face to know what kind of expression he held during that statement.
"But, no—I don't want you to leave us-!" Lance says as he saunters up to (Y/n). He grasped onto her hand and pleaded.
"Please, stay with us!" (Y/n) wore a somber look on her face and looked down. She couldn't even face him.
"Paladins! There is no need to make such a huge fuss over this! Now, can we please leave?" Allura said with absolutely no remorse in her voice. I knew why, and I'm pretty sure everyone else knew why.
"But (Y/n's) our friend!" Pidge practically screamed back towards the princess. However, instead of responding with a few more words, she crossed her arms over her chest and stood there like a statue.
"I don't want you guys worrying about me. Please, it's best this way." (Y/n) said while still looking towards the ground.
"If...that's what she wants, then there's no reason to argue." Hunk says somberly, clearly he was just as torn as the rest of us.
"But—"
"That's enough, Lance. She's made her decision...and that's something we can't force her to change." Our leader said aggressively at first, but softened over time.
"Thank you for understanding, Shiro...I'm going to miss you—all of you." She says as she brings Lance into an embrace. Standing there watching that happen made my blood boil, but I didn't want to say anything. I didn't want to be the one to spoil the moment, so I just stood there with my arms crossed over my chest. But, as her head rested over Lance's shoulder, I couldn't help but notice her stare centering on me. I felt my face heat up again...it's weird, this only ever happens with her.
When she had pulled away from Lance, Allura had practically ushered us out of the room and at that moment I thought that was the last time I would ever see her.
~*~
As I saw them flock out of the room, I couldn't help but stare at only one of them in particular. I was stating for so long, that I felt like I was burning holes into the back of his skull. But once he had left the room, I could no longer stare. I sighed, knowing that was probably the last I'll ever see of him, at least for a while, then turned to Kyanna.
"I knew you liked him...why haven't you said anything?" Kyanna asked.
"...I just don't want anything to repeat itself." I answered her and I knew almost immediately that she knew what I was referring too.
"You can't always let bad things from your last effect what you want to do in the present. Of course, it's smart to be careful but nobody is ever the same." Kyanna told me and I knew what she was saying was true.
"From as far as I can tell, Keith is nothing like him. They may share a few minor qualities but he's nothing like...him." Kyanna said, trying to be mindful. I looked back towards the door, wondering if I should chase after them or do something. Kyanna noticed, of course and pushed me on the shoulder.
"Go. I know you won't regret it." Kyanna was never wrong, she's has always been right for as long as I've known her. I took a look back at her and then rushed for the door.
After opening it and running down the halls, I found the Paladins all about to leave the front entrance. Keith had seemed to be lagging behind, so I rushed up from behind him and quickly whisked him away without the others even noticing. I pushed him behind one of the many pillars in the area and just stared at him for awhile. I don't know why...I just—I don't know! But, he seemed not to mind and actually did the same thing. We exchanged no words and the air around us wasn't even remotely uncomfortable. But then something came over me, and I guess I couldn't resist it. I slowly came closer to him and leaned my head against his chest and closed my eyes. I brought my hands up to his shoulder and eased them into a comfortable position. I could hear his heart beat quicken as I did, but it didn't spin out of control. Then, I felt his arms wrap around my waist and, in turn, brought me closer to him. I knew I was blushing when he did, I just didn't want to admit it.
"Keith-"
"Shh." He shushed me and I said nothing after that and just enjoyed the moment the two of us shared between each other. Suddenly, I felt one of his hands travel their way up on my body. I felt shivers as it did. I looked up at him, his violet eyes piercing into my own. Then he had took my chin in his palm and leaned his face forward. I was panicking, yes, but I let it happen, because I desperately wanted it to happen. In a matter of ticks I felt his lips on mine. It was rough, I'm pretty certain that this was his first time kissing someone. But I didn't mind, in a way, it was still sweet. His hand, that was previously on my chin, had made its way to the back of my head. In turn, this deepened the kiss as he directed my head to tilt slightly to the side. This kiss has lasted for a while actually, and at some point I was convinced it wouldn't end, but as soon as that thought had crossed my mind, he had pulled away. He smiled at me, still holding my head in his hands.
"Promise me to keep in touch." He said to me and I nodded.
"No, I need to hear you say it." He said, but still with a smile.
"I promise to keep in touch." He chuckled lowly and looked from out behind the pillar.
"I'm going to miss you too." He said, then after giving me one last peck, he had left. Certainly, his team was probably wondering where the hell he's been. You smiled and laughed at the thought, then made your way back to Kyanna. Now all you were thinking about was what was gonna happen when you saw them again...when you saw him again.
