Chapter Two

                Danni’s POV

As I unlock the front door, I can hear wolves howling in the distance. For some reason I'm not scared, but comforted. All my life I have never feared any type of animal and I am a sucker for dogs. Big or little I am definitely a dog person. Also I have always been fascinated by wolves; they are so mysterious and intriguing to me.

Getting back to what I am doing, I carry the things that I packed in my car which is mostly clothes and some kitchen stuff. I was lucky enough to buy a place that's already furnished and I honestly like the most of it. The previous owner had put sheets on the couches and chairs and there wasn’t really a lot of dust to clean up. I remember the realtor said that the closest neighbor would come over to clean and check on the house.

Making many trips between the house and my car, I walk into the kitchen after I drop the last box on the floor and I really wasn’t expecting there being any food and on the kitchen island. There was a gift basket with a letter that read, “Welcome to the Neighborhood! –The Silvers and Andrews.”

“What neighborhood are they referring to and I really hope they don’t expect me to pay them back.” I laugh out as I sit down the note and continue to explore the lovely home.

The kitchen and bathrooms were actually updated to my surprise and I loved the colors used throughout the home. I couldn’t help feel that this house was made for me. I love how the style of the house was country, but modern.

For the rest of the afternoon, I put my things away and clean up every room. After I was done, I looked in the fridge and I was surprised to see that it was packed with the essentials. There was even a bottle of wine chilling in the freezer and I decide that I had to repay the people who did all this; it wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t.

I decide that I need some fresh air and walked out to the back porch before sitting down on the beautiful hand craved swing to watch the sun shining on the lake. I could feel my body relaxing and I could feel myself drifting to sleep when I hear a car coming up to my house. Quickly jumping up, I ran to my purse in the kitchen and grab my 9mm glock and looked out the window in the front .

A woman jumps out of a Jeep and helps two little boys out the back sit, I quickly hide my gun in my waist band before walk out to the porch to greet them. They look harm less, but there have been times where someone would use children to lure me in. I have a soft spot for them.

Looking over the woman, she’s drop dead gorgeous; she has dark curly hair that contrasted from her crystal blue eyes. She looked to be a few years older than me, maybe in her early twenties and was around 5’9 compared to my 5’4. The two little boys also her dark hair, but one had blue eyes and the other had hazel eyes and I knew right away that they were her children.

I walk off the porch to meet them and smiled because you could tell that they were a happy family and I find myself envying that.

“Hi my name is Alexis Andrews and I live a few miles down the road,” she said as she sticks her hand out to shake. I held her hand and could tell she was strong.  The two boys were on both of her sides and hiding behind her long flowing shirt. Alexis looks down and continues, “These two are Kent and Kendall.”

I couldn’t help but smiled at the fact that they were the cutest twins I have ever seen. “My name is Danielle Brooks but call me Danni.” Looking down at the boys I add, “I believe I have some chocolate cookies inside that I need someone to help me eat.” They look on their faces were priceless as they look at their mother for approval.
