Chapter Six

            Annabel and I ran to the little window in the attic to see the that the window on the first was shattered. “What the?” I looked at Annabel who was shaking her head.

            “Don’t you…”Even before she finished I started towards the ladder. “Haley it’s not of our business.”

            “So what.” I started down the ladder. “When has the ever stopped me?” I smirked up at her.

            “Haley, Zachary didn’t seem to be in a good mood so do you really think that it’s wise…” I reached the bottom of the ladder. “You’re not listening to me are you?”

            “Nope!” I walked over to the door, opened it and walked out.

            “Well wait up.”

            I turned around to watch Annabel jump off the ladder and rush over to me. “What happened to it’s not any of our business.”

            “Well if you’re going to go then I might as well…”

            “Curiosity killed the cat.”

            “We’ll I’m glad that I’m a dog.”

            I stuck my tongue out at her. “You and you’re Chinese zodiacs.”

            She stuck her tongue out at us and I smiled at her. “Well eh.”

            I walked down the hallway and down the stairs and out the door. Annabel closed the door behind her and sighed as I ran off the porch and over to the side of the house. “Shit.” I heard Zachary’s voice. “This is great, just great.”

            “I told you, you should control that temper of yours.”

            “Shut up!” I walked slower when I noticed Zachary looking out the window.

            “Ah, you’re going to break another window.” Mike teased him.

            “Fuck you!”

            I blinked a few times before taking a step closer. “Zachary, watch your mouth. There are kids present.”

            Zachary looked over at me and shook his head. “Haley what are you doing here?”

            “I heard the crash and wanted to make sure everything was ok.” I told him shuffling my feet.

            “Well that’s very kind of you.” Mike laughed. “But all it was was Zachary’s temper getting out of control.”

            “I said shut up!” Zachary turned his head and glared at Mike.

            “Temper temper.”

            I heard a growl that almost didn’t sound human come from Zachary. “Shut up!” He ordered once more.

            I looked back at Mike to see his eyes widened. “Chill man I’m just playing with you.” He seemed really scared.

            I looked at Zachary and saw his eyes were really dark. “If looks could kill.” Annabel whispered into my ear.

            I nodded as Zachary sighed and looked back at us. “Sorry about the bother.” He tried to smile sweetly. “I was holding something when idiot here,” He pointed back at Mike. “Thought it would be fun to tease me.” He laughed awkwardly.
