Another Way, Another Day

This is not who we were meant to be,
Because we were once taught that it was okay to be free,
How can they not see?,
The wrongs from that body hanging from a tree,
You tell me that it's okay,
But maybe there's another way;

Why should I run?,
When other kids are out there having fun,
You tell me it's okay,
But maybe there's another way;

We are no longer people,
Because we are no longer equal,
Even if we look the same,
We didn't come from the same place,
So that's why we are left in shame,
You can tell me that it's okay,
But I know there's another way;

This world was a place where men and women were free and children could play,
But now none of us want to stay,
There's nothing we can say,
You can say it's okay,
But there's another way;

We lay in our beds, wishing it was yesterday,
So we didn't have to go through the horrors of today,
Though it may all end in May,
We just need to hold on for just one more day,
Through everything isn't okay,
There will always be another way;
