The Poet's Dream

They drowned
in all the tears I shed
But I didn't believe
That they were dead
I just continued
onward
Leaving behind
the lies I've heard
Believing
that I could still win
And erase
my every, single sin
For I was a fool
on the adventure of a lifetime
A poor, dreamless poet
Forever stuck in rhyme
But my words
Were used against me
And there was no where left
For me to flee
For the world
I used to hide within
The one enclosed
Within my skin
It's gateway
Now closed to me
Has turned me
Into a mockery
My mind
Is such a jumbled mess
(Though I know
You really couldn't care less)
That I can't
even comprehend
What these words
On paper even meant
And I was sent back
To how I was before
A dreamless, hopeless poet
Forever more
