A Rabid Wolf

Despite the situation she had found herself in, Feng Jiu actually slept rather well.  Not only had the man conjured a warm bed for her to lie down in, he even gave her a warm change of bed clothes.

"Your kind do not take to our cooler temperatures as well as we do." he said as three large eider down blankets appeared.

Saying nothing, and keeping her face expressionless, she ignored the clothing, instead she wrapped herself in one of the large blankets and lay her head down.  It was past her bedtime and she was tired, and worrying over what fate had in store for her was pointless because she could nothing about it anyway.  And though most children would have been scared mindless, she wasn't, and that was only because the man had been kind to her, he smiled at her and his green eyes looked at her softly, he even ensured she was comfortable, and that meant he was an honorable man.

Though she wasn't stupid enough to think he would let her go though, she knew war was coming, everyone did, and she also knew how valuable she was to an enemy.  Her father and and her aunt had impressed on her for as long as she could remember that her Tribe was highly respected and by some envied.  So in a way she knew that whatever the next day brought, would present itself to her then and she had best be prepared for it and that meant sleeping, she would need her strength.

So having slept well through the night, she awoke to the soft sounds of maids entering, the first time she had noticed anyone other than his wolves.  Placing a large tray with enough food and tea for two on the table, she sat up slowly and rubbed her eyes.  And it was then that he lowered the barrier around the small chamber she was in and no sooner did the barrier lower, then the extreme cold of the cave hit her.  It was obviously winter in his part of the world too, because the ice cold chill of the air could be felt in her bones.

Snatching up the blanket, she quickly wrapped it about her body before pulling it up and over her head to keep warm.  Then looking around she was surprised to see the man was wearing only a few layers of clothing, he seemed more than comfortable because no fire was lit, in fact there didn't even seem to be a hearth.

"Come and eat, it will warm your body." he said softly before sitting down at the table and filling both tea cups.

It never took much for her to run when food was around, and the situation she was in was no exception.  Immediately she made her way to join him while dragging the large blanket with her.  But before she could sit down, he not only magically removed the blanket but he wrapped her in a soft bubble of warmth so she could move much easier.

Not sure if she should speak or not, she gave him a grateful nod of her head, then sitting down she began to eat.  The food wasn't what she was used to, but it wasn't that bad either, though the tea needed sweetening, it was very bitter, but not wanting to be rude least she angered him, she kept her eyes down and politely finished her breakfast before laying her hands gracefully on her lap to wait.

For what she didn't know.  She knew he had written a missive to her Aunt, but not knowing if a reply had been received and too afraid to ask, she merely sat looking at her hands while he fully focused his attention on her.

She had not spoken a word to him since entering his cave, nor had she cried, in fact watching her now she no longer seemed to fear him, he thought to himself as he took in her delicate features and the elegant way that she sat.  She was definitely a nine tailed fox, he could clearly see her fox form now that she had dropped the fear which had acted as a kind of barrier and that thought interested him.

Being in fear hid much from his view, of course he could use magic to see her form, but without the fear, she was completely open to him, something he didn't think she realized, though he felt she did understand the situation she was in.  Her meekness or rather the impression she gave, suggested she was more than aware of what was happening and the danger she was in.  Yet being so young, probably not more than 40,000 years of age, she was merely reacting to the way he treated her and he was fine with that.
