"This is honestly my favorite day of the whole year," You admitted to your mom while helping hang up decorations in the backyard.

"Better than any holidays?" Your mom asked, handing you a lantern.

You thought about it a bit harder while tying up the light decor and still nodded.

"Everyone is really happy in the summer because there's no school and stuff. Besides, sometimes my cousins can't come down for other holidays but they can always make it today."

Every year within the first month of summer your family hosted a cook out in which all of your family members came to enjoy food and play outdoor games. Your parents had started it as a tradition after it seemed that everyone had moved away. It became harder for you when all of your cousins left because even though they were annoying, you had always thought of them as your only friends.

It was a rare day when you could hang around people your age and not feel as if any moment you would be attacked.

You hummed to yourself as you filled water balloons and rolled out a slip and slide, connecting it to the hose in order to work when you cranked the faucet. Your parents were working on cooking miscellaneous forms of meat and cutting fruits indoors while you were setting up outside.

The hard part was moving all the table and chairs around. You grunted in effort as you tried to haul a particularly large table out the back door. You had to pause to catch your breath once you got it outside and prepared yourself to drag it across the lawn.

At that moment, Jungkook exited the door of your neighbor's house in order to get the mail for them. Admittedly it was quite boring in his new house considering the age of his guardian's and the fact that he had nothing to do. All he did was play video games, video call his friends back home, and do chores for his new 'parents.' He made sure to ask them every few hours if he could do something for them, resulting in them adoring Jungkook.

He walked out to get the mail and felt the sun immediately. It was hot out, so he wanted to go back inside. Halfway to the mailbox however, something caught his eye.

You were tugging at a table and straining in effort as you tried to tug it across the grass. Jungkook had no idea why anyone would want to put a table outside but immediately changed courses upon seeing your familiar form struggle under the weight.

Sweat rolled down your forehead and you growled, kicking the table in irritation. Suddenly you felt someone next to you as the fabric on their shirt sleeve brushed against yours and they lifted up the table and began pulling it in the direction you had been trying to pull it towards.

"Jungkook?" You quipped in surprise as he made carrying the table look easy. You quickly came out of your shock and lifted the other end to help him. You led it in the direction you wanted and placed your end down once you reached under the tree. "Here is fine," You told him, and he also dropped his end.

"Wow... uh, thank you," you spoke sincerely, wiping your face with your shirt, "You didn't have to help though."

Jungkook just looked at you and smiled softly.

"Good?" He asked, wanting to know if you needed anymore help. You nodded.

"Yeah, I'm good. You've helped enough."

Jungkook found himself at a loss for words as you stood in front of him and rubbed his arm lightly, wanting to converse more but not sure how.

"Um... OK bye!" He blurted out and quickly walked away, face palming for acting so stupid and leaving so abruptly.

You watched him leave quizzically before shrugging and going back inside to carry out chairs. Jungkook was definitely different. No one had ever really offered to help you before. Even back when you and Vince were friends, it seemed that you were always the one that gave him help, not the other way around.
