The battle was over, the Warriors had been triumphant and had saved their Alpha King. The unmated Warriors returned to their duties with the heartfelt thanks of the Alpha King and promises that the Spring travel would be reinstated. The Alpha King even promised that the travel would take place this year in only 3 months time. Everyone was looking forward to opportunity to travel among the packs. Although at the same time hearts were heavy, at the start of the year the unmated rejected females were all sent to the Games and there were only 8 of them. It was clear that she-wolves had been killed. However it was felt that it was important to make the Warriors presence known, and to mark their card as it were, let all of the packs know that attacks on rejected females would not be tolerated.

As for the mated Warriors they were officially released from service with the thanks of the Alpha King and instructed to return home to their mates. The Queen extended an invitation to the Warriors and their mates to return for a special dinner in honour of the heroes.

All were eager to return home to their mates and swiftly bundled into the vehicles to head back to the village. It took only an hour to travel from the Castle to the Warrior village which was within the Royal Territory. Upon arrival they swiftly dispersed and sought out their own mates.

Daric burst through the door of his parents home and scented out his mate. Finding her burrowed under blankets and fast asleep in his old room, he carefully crept towards her and gently stroked her hair while trying not to wake her. Darics father appeared at the door, "Hello son, we have only just returned home an hour ago and she has just gotten to sleep. She had to have a small operation on her knee. The doctor says she will need some more and probably one on her back before she is fully recovered. I know you wanted to be here, but the doctor was unwilling to wait."

Daric kissed her forehead and whispered, "No thats fine, I don't want her to be in pain any longer that she needs to be."

"Your mother has been cooking, she has prepared all of your favourite dishes. I think Primrose might be a little afraid to come out of this room incase she is force fed any more cake. You will have to protect her from a doting mother."

Daric chuckled, "I'll be down later, I just want to stay her with her for a little while."

Thane rushed up the path to great his mate, Fern met him at the door and threw her arms around his neck, "You're back!"

"Yes mate, and I won't be leaving again."

Tears pricked at Fern's eyes. "Are you well? Please tell me you weren't injured."

"I am well. I was not injured. And you? Is he still here?" Thane ground out between clenched teeth.

"He stayed for a few days but had to return to continue his duties. He would like to return occasionally to visit."

"Hmm, well if that is what you wish, I will have no objection. Unless he harms you again then he will no longer be welcome."

Fern tried to hide her smile, "I sincerely doubt that anyone will be able to hurt me with you here," she muttered quietly. Thane intended to confirm her statement but was caught by surprise by Fern jumping into his arms and crashing her lips on his in a heated kiss, well who was he to argue with his delectable little mate.

Bear and Alric made their way to their own mates who were both staying with Bear's parents. Freya had accompanied them back to the Village however she had stopped responding to people and hadn't spoken a single word since she had delivered the warning to the Alpha King. It was almost impossible to survive the loss of a mate and Alric feared that he would soon have to say goodbye to his mother too.
