He saw her
She saw him
Smiling all the way
Both moved forward
He reached for her
She was shocked
He intertwined their hands
Startling her
Whispered sweet-nothings
She turned misty
He took her to a twirl
Her heart was thundering
From far away
I followed the scene
Felt her heart break
Blending with dark in rain
His wandering mind & eyes
Left her on sidelines
This was her day
but he forgot his date.

Just so you know, there are two girls in the poem. One with whom he was on date & the other he left the one for. Was it subtle enough?
