Okay, so I know what the general opinion of our second protagonist is around here and the fact that the previous chapter was left at a very annoying break-point, I need you guys to have an open mind for this one. For once, let's get into the twisted mind of Arnav Singh Raizada. Who expected this chapter?

The previous night

Even though the road trip had hardly been taken about 2 hours, to Arnav, it seemed like an eternity had passed since he'd been away from Khushi.

Looking at her picture on his mobile, he let a chuckle escape his lips.

It was from the time, he literally hated her guts for being able to stand against him

It was from the time, he literally hated her guts for being able to stand against him. Then, she had been a chit of a girl who questioned the authority he had worked so hard to get. He had worked his a** off for the previous 10 years to reach the point, where he wouldn't be answerable to anyone, where he was in control, where he didn't give destiny the power to wreck his life again and yet there stood this middle-class girl who had the audacity to make him rethink his views, who had the strength  to oppose him and create havoc in his life and inside him. Who had the courage to meet his eyes and not tremble, to walk away from him, to snatch his peace.

If someone had told him then that there would be a time when he would priortize that chit of a girl over his sister, he would have that person locked up in a mental institution, yet here he was looking at her photo, missing her, leaving her to protect her from the beast inside him when there his Di was at home, without both people she trusted most in the most delicate condition she had ever been.

He hated to admit it, but seeing her emotionless behaviour, her 'innocent' eyes shining at him were starting to haunt him. He started to question himself, he had started beating himself up for feeling like that about the girl who was trying to destroy his sisters life. She had asked him when they first met, how would he feel if his sister's wedding was called off and today she was making him feel exactly that.......again.

He hated it, the feeling of helplessness that engulfed him seeing her and his brother-in-law, hugging, sharing looks, the casual touches all under the same roof as his sister. When he saw her in his brother-in-law's arms that night, he wanted to wait for her to look at him, to run into his arms, tell him what he saw was a lie, a facade, a drama, hell, even if she said that they were forced into that situation by aliens, he would've believed her. He would've hugged her tight, held her close, assured her that everything was fine, that he trusted her, that he knew she wouldn't betray him or his sister. But she didn't, instead, she asked Shyam to leave his Di just like that woman would have asked his sad excuse of a father.

Other than his family and PA, he hadn't trusted anyone after that incident 10 years. He used to have 10000 background checks on every employ. Even Lavanya had to undergo verification from a Private Detective and the Police, before he agreed to date her. Even with those scars from his past, he had trusted them, Shyam only because of Di and his grandmothers, but Khushi was a different story altogether. He did doubt her of being his rival initialy, after all he had just snatched that place from his uncle and even rejected 4 major deals the week before, it was a surprise that she did'nt intend to harm her then. But he never doubted her after that, whatever he called her aside, he never verified anything about her and even let her come to his house daily, be around his family without any questions, never checked her background, didn't even check or get the certificates checked that she submitted in his office. She could have been a fraud or a gangster for all he knew, but he didn't check.
