"Killian!"

"Hey man!"

"We missed you!"

It was lunch time, and he was surrounded by his friends. A wide smile was plastered on his face as he greeted them. He hadn't realized how much he'd missed them.

Emma stood next to him awkwardly. She wasn't really sure how to act or what to do... but it made her happy to see him smile so wide. He really seemed happy, and that warmed her heart. Emma smiled softly to herself and slowly wandered off to her old corner of the cafeteria. She figured if he wanted to sit with her, he would. But for now, she'd let him enjoy the company of his friends.

She heard his voice in her head telling her, you fall under that title too, Swan.

But still. She'd gotten to spend the whole Christmas vacation with him. He deserved some time with his other friends.

Killian had a lot of friends, and great ones, too. But none of them could top the five surrounding him. Well- Emma could, but he'd never tell them that.

(They already knew. It wasn't that hard to figure out.)

Robin, who Killian had been friends with since kindergarten, was a fellow brit and a family friend. His parents had been friends with Killian's before the two of them were even born. Their mothers often went out for tea together while their fathers watched the most recent game.

They hadn't gotten together recently, considering Killian's father hadn't been seen for quite some time. Alice had been avoiding a get together... and the truth that life was just going to have to go on without Brennan.

Regina, Robin's girlfriend, had joined the friend group a few years back when she transferred from school in Maine. As sassy and sarcastic as she was, they all loved her (especially Robin). Her mother was a tough love kind of woman, but she gave Regina what she needed, and that was what mattered. She was there when she was needed. Her father, Henry, was the more loving parent. He was the kind of dad who acted like a father to not just Regina, but to anybody she introduced him to.

Jeff, of course, was also part of the group. He'd been Killian's friend since the prior year and so far had been a good one. Plus, he'd finally ditched Sidney, for good, which earned him points. After realizing the truth of the mirror Sidney hid behind, reflecting a fake image of kindness masked with popularity, Jeff had been quick to separate himself. Killian knew, then, that Jeff was a good guy.

Ashley was another newbie to their group, also having joined last year. They'd taken her in as the new girl in school when she moved to town. Killian hoped she might connect with Emma, seeing as she was familiar with being new.

He also hoped that all of his friends would be willing to take Emma in as an official friend- not just the girl Killian's obsessed with.

And, finally, Graham, who was one of the kindest of them all. He was one of the original members of their little group, and was constantly putting his friends before himself. When they'd met, Killian had known right away that he was somebody he could rely on.

"Hey, guys," Killian chuckled taking a seat. Thank goodness he'd remembered to bring home-made lunch, because there was no way he was going to be eating school lunch on his first day back. That would just be awful.

"Hey, where's your friend? The one who walked in with you?" Ashley asked, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively. Killian rolled his eyes. Ashley knew exactly what Emma's name was.
