Chapter 21

''Hey'' Drew said.

He smiled at me but his face changed immediately he set eyes on Charlie.

''Who's he?'' He asked.

''Drew; this is Charlie. Charlie, this is Drew'' I introduced.

I purposely left out the part that Charlie is my cousin. I did it for drama purposes, of course.

''Oh''

''Nice meeting you'' Charlie said.

''Likewise, I guess''

''What are you doing here?'' I asked in confusion.

We haven't spoken in a week. We aren't even on good terms. That's why I'm wondering the reason he showed up here. Why the sudden change of heart?

I also noticed that he was hiding something behind  his back.

''Nothing" he shook his head  "It doesn't matter anymore. Have a nice night''

"Drew... " I started.

"Have a nice night, Bella"

He turned around and walked away.... Again.

I sighed.

Some things never change, do they?

''You too'' I mumbled.

As soon as I closed the door, Charlie started laughing.

''What the fuck is wrong with you?'' I shrieked "What's funny?"

Why is he laughing? There's nothing funny about this. 

''Did you see the look on his face? He's totally into you''

I folded my arms and glared at him.

''Meaning?''

''I held you close to me to make him jealous and he was "

I rolled my eyes and sat back on the couch.

''You're so stupid''

I face palmed myself as the realization hit me like a ton of bricks. Now, I know why Drew was pissed. He probably thought Charlie and I were dating.

"You're into him, aren't you?" He asked me as he sat down.

"Yeah" I pouted.

"Aw"

"Don't start" I warned.

He laughed again. 

"I don't think he feels the same way about me" I complained.

"He wouldn't be here at this time of the night if he didn't"

"He keeps sending mixed signals, Charlie. One minute, I think he's into me. The next minute, he's running away"

"Do you like him? "

"Yes, I do"

''Bella'' he called.

''What?''

''Go get your boyfriend''

''He's not my... ''

''Doesn't matter. Just go''

I thought about it. Should I go and risk getting rejected again? Or should I just stay home and save myself the heartbreak? After all, it's just a bet.

"Your feelings for Drew are more than just the bet" my sub conscious reminded me.

She's right. I really like Drew and I don't want to lose him again but what if he doesn't feel the same way? My mind went back to the first night we sneaked out of my house.

"What if I fall?" I asked him

"Oh my God, Bella. What if you fly?"

I smiled.

Life is all about taking risks especially for the ones you love.

I hugged Charlie.

''Thank you''

Drew's POV

I knocked on Bella's door excitedly.  I decided to take my mum's advice to go after Bella so I decided to host a Valentine's dinner for both of us. 

 I set up a mini dinner for her at the skate-park. I paid a few guys to set up a dinner table with food and music to make it romantic. I know it isn't much but it's what I could afford with a little borrowing. She's definitely worth it and much more.

We'll eat and talk under the moonlight then I'll confess my feelings. Hopefully, she feels the same way. If she does, I'll ask her to be my girlfriend.

I'm tired of running away.

I'm tired of hiding how I feel about her.

I'm ready to man up and admit my feelings.

I really like Bella Martins and I'm going to give it my best shot.

I took a deep breath when the door opened. This is it!

''Hey'' I said.

I smiled as Bella came into view but my smile turned into a frown when I saw a boy behind holding her possessively.

Who is he?

A boyfriend who lives far?

I haven't seen him in school before so I doubt he goes there. He looks older than her. He's probably in college.

Is she into older men?

''Who's he?'' I asked without meaning to.

''Drew; this is Charlie. Charlie, this is Drew'' she said.

I felt intimidated immediately. He was obviously rich judging from the way he was dressed.

He's good looking, tall and well built. He was dressed in the best designer clothes I've seen; a Gucci belt, a pair of Jordans and a Rolex wrist watch.  My hopes diminished by the second.

Why would she be into me when she has guys like this after her?

What was I thinking?

''Oh''

''Nice meeting you'' he said.

I wish I felt the same.

''Likewise, I guess''

''What are you doing here?'' Bella asked me with a confused look on her beautiful face.

''Nothing. It doesn't matter anymore''

I walked away, holding the flowers I had in my hand.  It had a note stating the place I wanted us to meet.

It's the place I knew I started liking her

Meet me at the skatepark.  I have something to tell you
