Your feet hit the wet sidewalk. Running as fast as you could. You were being chased. You were being chased by your own demons. Your anxiety, your hate against humanity, and your lack of moral guidance. You were cold, and tired. You've been running for hours. You needed somewhere to sleep. Somewhere to rest. Anywhere. The thing is, you had no money.
But this is Detroit. There's bound to be an empty house somewhere.
You looked up. How convenient? A reasonably large run-down house! You checked your pocket, making sure your gun was there. And it was. How dandy. You took a running start at the fence. You hopped onto it, climbing over it, and jumping onto the dead lawn below. You examined the outside, though you were sure you heard more than just your own feet against the mud. Someone else was there. You just assumed it was your hallucinations again, though. You walked to the front door, tried to open it. The door didn't budge, "Sh*t.." you mumbled. You tried looking for another way in. When you stopped. You looked at your own shadow, and realized, there were two shadows. You pulled your gun out, quickly spun around, and pointed it at whoever was behind you.
An android, surprisingly. You think about your decision.
"HRGH-" The poor guy shrieked when he realized the gun at his forehead. "Don't shoot Ralph.. Please.." he winced.
"..." You slowly lower the gun, taking note of the scar on the left side of his face.
He looked down at you and backed up a step.
"Visitors are dangerous.." he twitched. "Why aren't you like the rest..?" He tilted his head. What you didn't know was that had you not been aware of his presence before then, you would have been greeted with him grabbing you, slamming you into the wall, and aquainting you with a knife to the throat.
"I thought nobody lived here. I'll leave you be. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding." You said, attempting to walk away.
But he grabbed your arm and pulled you back.
"Ralph is confused. Humans are nasty. Humans hurt Ralph. But you.." he stared at you, taking in all of your features. "You.."
His LED went from red to yellow. "You, you're different. Why didn't you shoot Ralph?" He was almost confused to the point of fear.
"There was no reason to hurt you, uhm.. Ralph. You lived here first and it's cruel to shoot someone without reason, especially on their own property." You explained, putting your gun away.
"Humans have names. What is your name?" He said, stiffening his idol stance.
"Y/N." You said, blinking.
"Why'd Y/N end up here?" He questioned, out of pure sincerity.
"I ran away. I don't know why I ran away. I just, I-" you didn't know how to explain it. That's when he cut you off.
"Humans.. can feel unsure of themselves too?" He was shocked.
"More than you know." You scratched the back of your head.
"Y/N needs a place to stay.. Ralph will let [her/him] stay." He said happily.
"Oh, but you don't have t-" He was already dragging you to the front door.
